http://www.musclehack.com/how-to-build-muscle-and-lose-fat-at-the-same-time/ start it next week as im in what i call 'preparation mode' atm lol getting my diet in order etc which is extremely hard as im the fussiest eater ever :(
MJ mate you shouldn't take advice really from websites that are trying to sell you something on the subject. They're rather biased. I got most of mine by looking through independant body building forums and from the sherdog forums. Fighters have the best physiques and role models for working out in my opinion. They have great cardio, great body and are well defined to minimise excess mass to make weight catergories.

Good point, i'd much rather follow a boxers exercise regime and diet, than a bunch of blokes wanting to parade on stage in banana hamocks lol. I'm wanting to lose a bit of excess fat, muscle - i know enough about what i'm doing with that (been weight training for about 5 years now on and off) and also improve my cardio. Just need to find/come up with a decent workout plan and diet, any ideas? I'm mainly just pretty clueless when it comes to diet.

Exercise if done enough and properly will do most of what you need. Best thing imo for what you want would be join a kickboxing or other high physical fighting club like muai thai. Do 2 sessions a week there and that will do most your heavy training, sort out toned muscles and works out your back etc for good posture. Even if not bothered about sparring its good to go just for the fitness, if get a good coach will no what there doing and it's not like someone going to the gym and jus doing a load of random machines without really knowing what and how much of each body part is getting worked out.
From there in your own time try and get exercise whenever you can. Say around 3 long outdoor runs a week whenever can fit them in. If possible some days wake up go straight for a run, this way body keeps burning off calories all day and is good for loosing weight. But really key is do it whenever you can, whatever time your bodies rested and can fit it into your scheduele.
Eatings obv very important need to eat good balanced diet if wanting to get most out of your training. Plenty of pasta, chicken, vegetables, cereal, mixed nuts, fruit, juice etc. After training make sure eat plenty to recover your body needs proteins, carbs and fats. Say chicken, pasta, veg with oil or a load of brown rice with meat, veg etc. Balanced meals are best in general dont just eat a plate of meat for example.
Eating heavy meal of carbs late at night will store weight but if youve just been to a kickboxing class that wont matter, your muscles will need energy immediately so dont worry about that. In general as long as keep up the exercise regime and eating the right stuff you shouldnt have to starve yourself, if your hungry your body needs food and is gonna be worked off anyway.
Booze jus need be sensible cos is a lot of wasted calories, doing heavy exercise might make you feel like few drinks after but they actually stop muscles recovering as well and just dont give your body what it needs. Can still enjoy a drink just gotta watch dont go out on mad one too often.
But yeah really recommend the joining a kickboxing or similar style club, wish i never sacked it something definitely gonna go back to. You'll notice weak points youve been missing from your own workouts and is just generally good for all round fitness.

Thanks a lot Chris! I'd been looking around the web for a few diet tips n that. All i could find was either starve yourself, don't eat fat, don't eat carbs blah blah. I'll just try and eat a healthier, balanced diet, see how that works for me.
I actually used to go maui thai when i was younger, but i had asthma and i sparred one day with a lad quite a bit better than me. I was ok but, he landed one punch right in my stomach, i nearly passed out lol. Will defo look into going back when i've got a few things sorted. Cheers again mate.

No problem mate also have to agree with sixfeet when your not training try to eat fairly often, dont just overeat at one time spread it out.
Also with cv dont eat for a good while before training cos will make you sick. Different people seem to have different times thats ok for them but atleast a couple of hours before your workout shouldnt be eating anything.

Nice post Chris. However pasta, nuts and fruit are really good but not in cutting weght. If you're already at your desired weight they're fine not good to eat whilst trying to drop it though.
Was gonna take up kickbowing and muay thai, dunno where any good trainers are around here though. Good workout and I'm a huge fan of MMA so would like to learn it.

Yeah fair point but if your exercising really hard i.e kickboxing training you will need to recover quickly to get back at more training.
Cutting out these kind of foods to lose weight may work but your body wont recover as quickly meaning you wont be able to exercise as frequently.
I'm sure the no or low carb diets work in getting quick results but if you wanna lose weight and more importantly gain fitness and strength theres no shortcuts. Lots of exercise and a good balanced diet, put in the work and you'll get results that last.
