I'm curious how it is in other countries, but it seems locally where I am at in the United States most types of electronic music events have dress codes. I find that quite sad. Whatever happened to people being individuals and expressing themselves how they want? I'm just curious if that's how it is in other countries?
Maybe I've grown too acustomed to going to rock shows and other music genres that don't want everybody to look like super models in a Calvin Klein ad.

umm...are you going to underground events or clubs? Usually, depending on what side of the USA you are on, the typical 'dress code' would either be black/casual or candy/costumes in the underground scene. Clubs pretty much feature people dressing preppy or slutty.

Maybe, it's just the stuff in my area. I'm not a big fan of Keoki, but when he came nearby there was a dress code and what not. Then I was looking into some clubs around here...same deal. I don't live in a town where there is much of anything. I hope to make it to an event that actually plays hardcore before I die. It seems most places do the "preppy slutty" thing. Most people seem like jockos.

Anything goes really here, exept at the next HTID, they told us no hi vis, whistles, horns or glowsticks but there was a big revolt on DSI and now we can take them. But that was the staff from the club not HTID.
it sprung like a 12 page thread in the space of an hour lol

over here they sometimes have a "recommended" dress code like a white night or something but the only compulsory thing is no "lad" clothes, because they come to raves and act like dick heads and cause trouble and spoil the atmosphere, so i support that dress code.

lol that's why, you went to go see keoki. seriously most of the people that keoki brings out dress like that. keoki played here not too long ago and I had to suffer through listening to some of his set due to he was using my cdjs =p
most of the people were pretty much dressed for a club type atmosphere...also depending on the venue and if they have a liquor license, places will put up a dress code to try and detour people they don't wish to have in the venue.

holland sometimes has themed gigs where you got dress codes.. although mostly they just set this under dress code:
dresscode:
no knives, no guns, no jackets inside the club.
that one kinda made me laugh ._. but a well =]
Sensation White:
- all wear white clothes
Sensation Black:
- all wear black clothes
thats what makes sensation such a great gig to go to ;)

At CLUBS there's often a dress code in North America (and probably everywhere).
At RAVES there usually is NO dress code. Everything goes. By raves I mean events that are one-offs, with real "rave" music (hardcore/dnb/hard dance/etc, not commercial house).

Keoki sucks. Does he even show up for his gigs?
Doing massive amounts of blow, meth and K during your sets doens't usually have good consequences.

No Whisltes or Horns at a HTID show...I couldnt imagine any hardcore event being silent, or any rave in general!

good rule
whistles and horns piss me off at parties. they really really do.
and it's not like it's completely silent at a rave, is it now? ;)
