I've been converted over to iTunes recently with my iphone 3g purchase and think its great but managing any sort of hardcore is damn near impossible.
My Problem is that when I rip my Mixed Albums (Bonkers,HU,HA..etc). It separates the album into 6 or so different albums due to the artist mixing the song being different to others on the same album. Hell even the stuff I download straight from iTunes breaks up into 6 or more different albums and it's very frustrating.
Let me know the secret .
Thanks
PS: Kathryn, I've been a bad boy and ran away for 6 months :(

Have you tried altering it to suit what you want in the 'Preferences'?

have you got it set to organize all your songs by artist or album?
that could have something to do with it

I know what you mean and what I do is (this is with a regular Ipod not with an Iphone so might be a little different): I tag everything the way I want to (right click a song, properties and edit the info) after that I put them in a playlist and put the playlist on my Ipod that way if I wanna listen to a mixed album I just start the playlist and that seems to work good enough for me. Hope you understood that and also hope it works for you :)

Damn that's a whole lot of effort especially when you have 120+ GB @ 256k
Any other known solutions out there?

Yes! It sounds like you are having trouble with labeling. What I suggest is searching for say..."Bonkers 17" in iTunes. It should give you all the tracks that are associated with that.
If it all looks right, you select all of the tracks (Shift + Select) and access the info (File, Get Info).
In there you'll see all sorts of options for the file info, and because you've got all of them batch selected, you can start to streamline it.
My advice, keep each album of a compilation separate, but keep the compilation together.
If you can, depending on how you labeled, and it shouldn't be too messed up, pick all the songs off of say CD1 of Bonkers 17, you make the album Bonkers 17, make it Disc 1 of 3, and Change the Album Artist to be Brisk & Ham. Also make sure Compilation is checked...
Repeat this process for the other two discs and you should end up having Bonkers 17 as one album with all the tracks, and have them listed in order based on Disc Number (if you choose to organize this right.)
NOW:
ALL OF THIS DOESN'T REALLY MATTER!!! Just make a playlist with all of Bonkers 17 CDs in it!!

Make sure that the album is called the same (like Bonkers 17 or Bonkers 17: CD1 to divide the CDs).
I had the same problem with Sony's older MP3 walkmans (you neede to have their specific software to upload them). I fixed this by makeing sure the ALBUM ARTIST field (if iTunes have this, use it) is exactly the same for one Album (ie Various Artist or Scott Brown if it's his CD).
EDIT1: oh gutted, maybe I should read Leto's message before posting :P
