OK so apparantly it looks like my new laptop only came with a trial of microsoft office and although the programs like word and excel are on it, i cant go on them now until i enter a product key which obviously i dont have (i thought it was the 25 digit number on the bottom of the laptop but that hasnt worked.
So i need to buy it, its £60 on sale at comet. So, do i just buy it and there will be a product key inside the package and then it will all work?

Go to http://www.openoffice.org download it and spend the £60 on hardcore records. I have Microsoft Office at work but i still use Open Office cause i like it better. Seriously give it a try. As far as your laptop goes. If you're Laptop came with the Office CD, then the number is most likely written there. If it says it comes with MS Office, you should get MS Office. I would double check the ads for it.

I use open office too. Wouldn't swap it for MS office even if they gave it to me for free. :)

the key is what you get when you convert your trail version to a full version by paying for it I think (through the microsoft website).

Open Office is excellent, I wish everyone used it so that we could avoid document compatibility issues with MS stuff.
