Ive been sitting on the designs for my tats for over 3 years now and im still not sure how i want to portray it on my skin.. Its not a quick desicion to make - that shit is permanent, or permanently a scar - take your pick.

What difference could it possibly make to you at all? If someone wants to a tattoo that has no meaning to them, they just want it, who are you to judge? Get a grip of yourself mate.

Redwingz, it's your body after all mate. Do something because you want it, why should it have to mean anything to you at all? If you want it do it. But gotta say HTID? That would be gay, totally your choice obviously, but so gay.
I agree. Personally I wouldn't get a tattoo because I know id regret it pretty quickly. There certainly ain't any rules about who should and shouldn't a tattoo though (unless I'm wrong? If so I would certainly like to be shown it). If you want one, get one, but be sure that in a year or so you may well totally regret getting something permanent.
If I was offering advice, id say don't even think about getting one till you are 18+, and when you are that age, find a design and think the idea over for at least 6 months to a year. Even then though, I can still see some people deciding they don't want it any more shortly after getting it. This being the reason I refuse to have one.
On the HTID thing... Getting a tattoo that is closely linked to a style of music that almost all young people grow out of, is completely insane

Look mate, i dont have anything against you, or against redwingz. But i stated my opinion. I will call you a wanker if you get a tattooo purely to show off to people. My opinion, ive passed judgement on it and i have every right to have that opinion. It doesnt mean ill hate the guy, or judge him as a person for it but it IS ostentatious and against what i believe people should get a tattoo for.
It is his body and his choice, but if he wanted to make his own choice and didnt want input he wouldnt have posted on a forum, would he? He wanted people's opinions and i gave it to him - if you get a tattoo to show it off coz you think its looks cool, i will call you a wanker. I wont think you're a shit person, but its a wankish thing to do.
Its ultimately his final decision but like i said - if you get something that looks cool now, will you still think it looks cool in 40 years? Probably not. So i gave the advice to get Henna first, it can last a couple of months.
If you get something meaningful to you, you're not going to care whether it looks cool when you're 60, it means something to you. And if THATS the reason you got it, you have no problems.
I think i either gave the wrong impression, or you took it the wrong way. Hes entitled to do what he wants, but he obviously wanted opinions.

lots of people get tattoos because they are a cool design, they enjoy getting inked.
you can't make a blatant comment like tattoos are meant to be meaningful and shoot everyone down in flames who gets a tattoo that doesnt represent something meaningful in their life. your not really voicing your opinion youre arguing it. its your belief that they are meant to be meaningful like most other people... but others just like the look of them..... im sure in the dictionary the definition of a tattoo wouldnt say: Permanent body art that MUST BE MEANINGFUL...
having said that i would prefer if i got a tattoo it meant somethign, but why should i give a crap if someone got some kind of design they picked out of a tattoo parlour because it looked pretty... if its a cheesy tattoo who cares, its not yours....
redwings, i would never get a HTID tattoo, the hardcore runs through your blood you dont need no ink to prove it :P

Not the tattoo - HAVING the tattoo. Tribal designs and that are just meant to look intense arent they. Can't imagine someone having meaning behind it.
The whole point of my argument was that you should have SOME meaning to get the tat! It doesnt mean it has to be decked out in symbolism - BUT ITS FOR LIFE!. Something you thought of yourself is enough, but i think walking into a tattoo parlour and picking something out from a book, just for the sake of getting inked and to show people is wrong!
And now ive got people coming at me from left right and centre telling me im not allowed to have an opinion.
I'd like to see where i said id go around tracking people down and telling them they're shit ****s for getting a tat that meant nothing. I just think its silly, ive outlined alreayd that im not going to judge someone AS A PERSON - THAT should be enough.
Also, i didnt argue my opinion until it got challenged - and who doesnt?

So back to the original question. Football team is a passion i could well see stayin for life, HTID not really so much, that's something to really think about. You could be sick of those sounds in a few years times (save a few tunes that you really love and that)
Stars and Tribal bands, yea they have been cained to fook by many, but if it's something you like the look of could also go for that.
To be straight, depends more on your personality i'd say. some tribal bands look bloody cool, have to say stars look a bit....Magoo...
If i were to advise you mate, it'd be either tribal band or football team, depending on how much that team really means to you, coz ultimately you're marking yourself so is gonna be something there you don't wanna be sick of the sight of in the near future.
Myself i been wanting to get a Jester tattoo'd on me but would only do it if i saw a design that just had the right look to it. I'd get either a Jester head with hat (not sure where) or full a full Jester about the size of a hand on my arm.
If I do get one though, reckon i'll probably go with a jester head with hat wearin a mask with no expression on it all in black and white but with glowing red eyes.

I was thinking of getting a tattoo similar to that, full blown huge one from neck, all down shoulder and upper arm. Gonna tone up a bit first though.
And why do people have problems with someone getting a tattoo cos they think it looks cool? It's exactly the same thing you do every time you buy an item of clothing or shit.

read my post, i said when people get a tatoo to look cool, not when they get a tattoo because the tat is cool-looking.
I have the same problem with people buying designer-brand clothing BECAUSE its designer brand clothing and not because of how it looks but because they like everyone to see theyre wearing gucci.
