I do agree that there are some mc's that just talk jibberish - that stuff belongs on the stage not on cd's in my opinion

I don't mind MC's if the lyrics actually mean something. Not all that shit where you can't understand a bloody word of it. To me a good MC will know when to chat & when to shut up.

Yeah i agree with that.
At certain times ive heard MCs talk or even MC over vocals in the peak of the track - and a few times even in the breakdown.
REALLY!? You think THAT much of yourself that you're more important than the track itself?
gimme a break!

.... it must be the Master bit of 'Master of Ceremonies' that they relate to.

Master of Ceremonies and like Djing its a proper art form that should be taken more seriously and have proper quality control on it. A good MC knows when to add to the music and should know when to shut up and listen to the tune. Good examples are Ratpack, Digga ( R.I.P ), MC Techno, Marley ( with Ramos in particular ) and Robbie Dee ( early days before Djin ).
Lively can be fun with Vibes but depends if you need waking up at 5am in the morning or prefer to strangle him if he sends out one more respect to his Brother.
Have always enjoyed a decent MC, its pretty unique to the UK Hardcore sound. Works well in the cases of say Junior who could sing as well. Sadly to often it can be a clinger on with little talent.
Local in House MC's are usually the worst. Seem to get everyone's relationship details over the mic and if wanted a Garage night I would buy some cider and stand on a street corner. Junglist MC's are some of the best as they work and love the material the DJ is using. To often an MC doesn't know whats coming next and that's not an MC now is it.
In the best cases they are Musical conciseness in the worst case a diseased STD in the form of Musical clap.

Haha, don't bring me into this mate!! ;-)
Anyways imho ... in terms of MC's past and present, the role of an MC has changed, in the early days they were seen more as masters of ceremonies (hence the name MC), crowd hypers, working the crowd etc and accompanying the DJ's set, but love it or hate the MC's job in hardcore has just evolved, plain and simple, and the majority of ravers do expect more from a hardcore MC these days, cause of what todays MC's are out there doing in the raves and what they hear from MC's in other genres etc. MC's are a massive part of the actual events themselves on the night in terms of helping with the atmosphere etc, I know its all down to personal taste, and your entitled to yr opinions, but the majority of the ravers on the dancefloor do like MC's in a rave, and most of the time it can't be disputed that it does all add to the party and thats what it's all about.

The worst MC by far has to be MC Keyes.
Go to choons.net and download the 'Go Tell Yo Momma' Vol 1-4, its a shame you can't hear the tracks being played cos Ben X-Treme has made a few good songs.
Keyes, all you do is shout like a seal with a sort throat n swear, your awful.
The intros are the worst as well, your f*ckin up yourself mate, your not even good, my cousin whos 4 sings songs like Postman Pat and he'd rock a dancefloor better than you.
You sound like a Storm wannabe and i can't stand Storm either, you sound like the biggest pair of 'Chavs' about.
Let the DJ's play their music and appreciate that, we don't need some muppet shouting
'Hidey Hidey Hooo..' < F*ckin ripped straight from Storm that, has a slight connection to 'Now we say Heyyy, yooo'
BTW, re-read DJ Reikos post Keyes you stupid t*at, he is slagging you off not bigging you up, shame your ego can't see that - F*CK OFF!

And here was me thinking it was a tribute to Welsh comedy actress Ruth Maddox. I've been wronged somehow.
