Don't take the negative feedback personally. It wasn't great and people are just pointing out the flaws, but surely that's better than them saying: "it's brilliant! more of the same please". At least this way you'll know where you're going wrong and can learn from it for next time.

Don't upload another mix for a while if you don't want until you've got the hang of it, but don't do it just 'cos you've got a bit of bad feedback. Chin up mate and carry on mixing

Thanks! Hope your mixing is going good aswell!

Had to take a little break due to being so very poor, but should have a another nice, ear-drum-burstingly-hard mix up at some point. Who knows maybe i won't make a completely shambolic attempt with this one lol. See no-one makes a perfect mix everytime mate, i don't. Ever! Just all down to practice (which i'm guessing you're getting sick of hearing now).

The way i learned how to beatmatch was get any 2 records that play at 45. Play them at 33 & even turn down the pitch control if you like. So much easier to match them while they are playing slower. When you have cracked that just speed the record up a bit. Get the hang of that & speed it up some more until you find you can do it at the correct speed.

dude, forget these haters. i like the tracks. thats the biggest part. its D bags that think being a good DJ is "HOW FAT YOU DROP A SONG!". The fact that you put your work up for people to criticize it is more than most can say.

at least your doing something.

AND I WILL GIVE PROPS FOR THAT! AT LEAST YOUR GIVING SOMETHING TO THIS WORLD.

That is some good advice the only problem is I don't have bpm counter on my decks which has meant learning to beatmatch has been hard & I have often cut corners or tried an alternative route!

As always I try to use some good tracks!

who are you again? I did give constructive criticism. I guess you don't understand how a mix works kid, do you hear htid mixes all trainwrecked together? how about any pro mix? i don't post mixes on this site that often because i stopped using it for a year because i was pretty busy doing stuff like, playing the largest hardcore parties in the pacific northwest. all of them.

what have you done again?

do you honestly believe that one should only give positive enrichment to something that was not good? where would this guy be if everyone told him his shit was off the chain when in fact there was alot to be desired in the mixing department. he would never get anywhere in his career or hobby. you've got to be out of your mind if you think that bad demos get you bookings with reputable promoters, and if you think what i said was harsh, i'd like to see what would have happened if he were to have given me this demo to consider him as a possible booking since i am also a hardcore promoter, and only book the finest djs in the world. what i said was nice in comparison to what i say to some people that give me poor demos that show little to no effort put into them.

you see, i did give him props on his advancement in such a short amount of time.

also, tracks do not make a mix, mixing does. you could have the dopest tracks on the planet but if you cant put them together in a manner that does not sound like shoes in the dryer then that equals a bad mix. i don't give a shit if you have the dopest newest cuts on the planet. if you can't mix them then they are worthless in your hands.

that's why it's called a mix and not a trainwreck dickhead.

Go ahead and listen to these two mixes and tell me when and where you find a trainwreck on them. both made by me, and both have been posted on this site in the past two months.

i digress though, this thread wasn't meant to be about how much of a dickhead everyone is, it was about this guy posting his mix. next time, don't say you want feedback and you won't get any.

I agree your choon selection is always quality. Just keep practicing those mixes cos it will take time & you haven't even been mixing that long".

Sorry but thats half of the reason of making a mix.
This is a community built around DJing, if you don't want to be criticized on your mix you shouldnt really post it, were not "haters" were trying to help.

BPM counters are useless. In fact, you should avoid them if you want to learn to mix properly.

You can have two tracks at 180BPM and still trainwreck..and BPM counters aren't accurate enough to be useful anyways.

It's about hearing the "sound"...or rather, hearing when it doesn't "sound wrong".

I suggest the following to learn to beatmatch:
1) take two records that the exact same speed, or two copies of the same record
2) leave the pitch at 0% on both decks and try to beatmatch them
3) if it sounds wrong (off), move the pitch up 1% on one deck and then back down to zero right away
a) if it sounds worse than it did, move it to -1% for a second and back up to zero
b) if it sounds good now, leave it at zero %

rinse, repeat - you'll get the ear for it this way

don't worry about EQing and stuff until you've mastered that
