I've had loads of consoles over the years from the Spectrum to the Gamecube and never had a problem with any of them. I got an XBox 360 this year and I've had to have it replaced twice. I was speaking to the guy in the shop and he was saying it's pretty much standard for them to break down. :-/ He was also on his 3rd machine.
Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves for releasing such a flawed product. Trading standards should be onto them IMO and they should be made to replace all units with a more reliable version or refund everyone's money. What are you supposed to do after your warrenty runs out!? If mine breaks again I'm going to try and force a refund out of them and get a PS3.
Anyone else had the same problem?

It's a design flaw, basically it heats up so much either the solder on the board melts or the board warps, I think everyone has had their consoles replaced, it's standard for a xbox360, they have fixed it in newer models but if you bought an earlier model and it breaks you refurbished motherboard.

Should these models not be re-called then if they are flawed? It's not really acceptable. Microsoft need to sort it out.

Microsoft didn't do a recall, although they should have, google it you'll read alot about the problems and how they have fixed them but they sort of stiffed the consumers. Initally warranty was only 1 year and gamers were pissed because all the consoles were dieing to MS extended the warranty to 3 to cover the crap ups.

Nice one, I'll google it and read up. Hopefully I've got one of the newer models this time around and I wont get any more problems!
I've certainly lost any faith I had left in Microsoft.

I personally don't like X-Box anyway. Much prefer Playstation.

These are the people responsible for Windows. Releasing faulty products that need updating to keep the customer hooked seems to be part of their philosophy.

I actually bought a console from the original batch and mine didnt break till 2 years after I got it. It broke because the GPU fried somehow.
I got a new one and now my HD is making a funny noise and I get an E68 error every so often.

Should of gotten a PS3.
Not only do you get a a awesome console, you can boot linux onto it thus turning it into a PC.
Although the PS3 is lacking in some quality games atm.
I swapped my 360 for a mobile phone.

well worrying now, shelled out 300 for the elite black one with the 80gb memory. if that breaks down i'm gonna be mega pissed :S
don't use it too much in fairness, but the only place i can keep it is in a drawer beneath my telly so it doesn't get much ventilation when its on....
hmmmm...with over heating being the trend that screws these things up, i'm rethinking storage point...
