I listen to to his old productions from the 90's and think what a waste a good producer like that making hard dance. Would be great to see him produce a few hardcore tunes again or re-start labels bigbeats and world of obsession.

He ran two labels for a long time, hardcore and hard dance, when hardcore sales dropped off he focused on hard dance.

They call him traitor for leaving, and they would call him moneyhog if he started trying hardcore again.

Don't know if he really lost interest in hardcore at all, or if money was actually an issue, but since he's never gone nostalgic (and produce one or 2 hardcore tracks), I'd say he lost interest.
Just wish he could release his older stuff digital, since there's usually no "ABANDONWARE" when it comes to music (except maybe Knite Force, but that's because of LunaC's point of making music)

I love how when you decide to move to another genre....you are selling out. Please....
He was involved in Hardcore since 1994 and played up and down the country every week. Ran a major Hardcore label (World of Obsession) as well as many others.

Was one of the few people in 1999 that were actually playing and putting out records. He has done well with Hard Dance, and could have easily returned to a vibrant Hardcore scene. Like so many have done over the years.

I like Vinylgroover's tracks, some were ultra cheesy, like "Fairytales & Angels" and "Rave Party". :)!

I agree!

Anyone ever heard his remix of Paul Elstak- Love you more? It is rare & I think on a white label but it is class!

I thought he produced a few good happy hardcore tracks such as Virtual Dreams and Kick It.

Maybe one day he might return to the hardcore scene but for now he has proved to be a very good Hard Dance producer with the Red Hed (aka Trixxy?). "The Uncertainty Principle", "The Music", "Pod" and "Modularis" are all great tunes.

yea his hard trance/dance stuff is good too, but his happy hardcore is more memorable.

i think what really pissed ppl off was somethin that a hardcore DJ told me. what happened was he was playing a new years eve party somewhere can't remember where. i think it was the 1999/2000 new years eve. he was hired to play hardcore, but instead he was playing all his new hard dance material. it really pissed off his hardcore fans b/c they expected him to play all his happy hardcore, but didn't. so that's one of the reasons why ppl called him a sellout and lost interest in him altogether

i remember talking to vinylgroover and offering him to see if hed be interested in doing some stuff with my label.

he was never interested in hardcore believe it or not and only got in because of SL2, Prodigy etc....

he's found his favourite genre(s) and he's gonna stick with it

edit...

i dont think it's a sell out.
he wanst interested any longer he had enough of kicks at 170 bpm and wanted something different and found his passion, nothing wrong with that.

It was called 'Stars Fall Down' and was the 20th release on The World of Obsession.

Of course, Paul Elstak (as with 95% of his releases) was just a cover version with some words changed so he could get in on the publishing too (and the words were a bit dark for happy hardcore "as fathers rape their daughters")-
Sunscreem 'Love you more'

Sunscreem 'Pressure' (which has that 'huh', much sampled in hardcore)

if you have the urge (or talent) to make music, then i think let them make what they want.
yes i think the groover was more suited to the hardcore but who are we we to argue?he's obviously got what it takes. i bet he could make funky house if he wanted to! it is up to him at the end of the day?
