95, you hate hardcore today so much, why do you always post? Its good and bad, same as every year!

I challenge you to a top 10 hardcore dual! you say what your 10 favourite hadcore tunes of all time are from the era you love, and I'll do the same, and we will let the people on on here decide who wins!

Fair enough. Do it then.

I did.

Fair enough, do it then, easier said than done.
I'm bringing out a oldschool digital label sometime next year as an addition to my current one.

Personally i also think it's extremely ignornat and arrogant to hang so much shit on hixxy and darren styles, and that wikipedia entry? How pretentious and stupid is that shit!!!

Theres been so many of these shit topics, it's not going to go downhill any time soon, theres new upcoming producers coming from over the world and even australia i know for sure and theres tons of new compilations and tons of events thriving.

Although in some cases vinyl is selling less and less, i think Hardcore will get bigger as opposed to "hitting the rocks", a genre like this can't just die like that, and it's not going to any time soon i guarentee.

Why do we need to discuss all this anyway, it's not like it's going to solve nothing... And it really isn't even evidently dropping...

Perhaps another 99-01 style crash would give Hardcore the boot up the backside it needs. It's called Hardcore because it's meant to be hard. It's not supposed to sound like sped up commercial dance!

I'd agree with 95_was_the_time (crikey), we need to give more exposure to the new and fresh talent rather than let Styles and Hixxy drag the scene in what I believe is the wrong way.

I've only been listening to Hardcore fr about 4 years, I've noticed a definite dip in overall quality since then.

4 years so really ya dont know what ya talking bout these dj's been round for years mate.
I have been listening to hardcore since 91 so av definetly noticed it rise fall and rise again.
I do prefer the older stuff sont get me wrong so i rather listen to that now than all this music coming out that dosent really appeal to me.

Yes, I know they've been around for ages, and from hearing their older stuff compared to their newer stuff, I'd argue that their best days are behind them. All I'm saying is that I feel the quality has dropped somewhat in the four years or so I've been listening to hardcore.

I think we should stop this argument & put your vinyl where your mouth is, or CD or MP.......u get the point.

Why don't we all put together an old skool mix at the most 60mins long, & we can each show what we liked about the old styles & where we think it should progress. This means we aren't just sitting on our arses talking about this day in day out & we can actually do something productive. Then we put all the mixes up for DL & let the members decide what they like the best & what one sums up the past & present the best

Also, to take things a step further, all the producers should work should work on a compilation together & call it The Past, The Present, The Future & we can produce some old sounding tracks, some up to date tracks & some tracks that we think will shape the future!

If anyone likes the idea of this then PM me & if I get enough replies, i'll start a topic on it & see if we can take it further.

Just seems like a waste of time sitting going over it again. Come on people! Lets get some ideas together & we can shape our own scene

not sure if you read it right but they would decide who's mix they thought was the most creative ie which dj rounded our scene up in a mix from their favorite tracks, past to present. Unless you would like our members to send in their own karaoke covers of shooting star!

i don't think a popularity contest of shitty mixes is going to save hardcore.

I am 35 this year and got into the scene when I was 16, I thought I was too late as I had missed all the acid house and early major raves. As an indie kid, I woke up when played a Simon Bassline Smith and Stu Allan tape. Along with Prodigy, I as a raver was born..I still liked indie stuff but moved more towards Poppies and Senser ( remember them? ).

I went to Universe Tribal Gathering 93 and hardcore was turning out dark Jungle, Pianos wer thought as cliche, babyish and to mainstream mainlty to do with shit like 2unlimited ( which I thought was rave until enlighted ). Pop nicked the ideas bastardized the sound and the scene turned its back on the happy vibe for a while. It had too! I wasn't happy this is what I wanted. Yet for Hardcore to Techno tent at Universe the vibe was totally different, no moody minimal techno no attitude pure buzz uplifting atmosphere. Roll on 95 to 98. Second wind second wave. Happiness was back and SY, Dougal, Hixxy Brisk and Sharkey made that happen. Force and Styles kicked ass and the circle starts again. UK Hardcore goes for speeding up the Ibiza sound, Trance influences dominant the vibe, the production and layering gets better.

Hardcore steals from everywhere. When we allow it to follow, steal AND Create how can it die?
It is the only style of music that develops BECAUSE music develops. Its R an B all the vibe in Brussels with Techno popping up, however unlike the Garage vibe ( remember that? ) Hardcore does not get stuck with its own genre to play with, it can take from any where. Whilst one tune I may hate, another will burn me up. That's what makes Hardcore great and unkillable.

I agree about the bookings thing, you need to know an audience, I would never have put Rap on at Rez, I think she's great but at REZ!! Sounds like suicide to me.

We will always need new DJs and MCs pushing things forward, However telling Scratch master SY, Stu Allan, Seduction, The Ratpack then Hixxy, Sharkey then Scott Brown to move aside is like telling a crooner fan now they have Robbie Williams and Harry Jnr. they don't need to listen to Sinatra. Just a little rich I think.

We have a history that I am proud of, old tunes should be revived that's called a remix or a cover and some are better than the originals because the music industry has improved. Also with money DJs could afford to spend more on production.

Hardcore is unique in that it can re-invent itself over and over again, and it will regardless of DJs Mcs and producers when people want it to happen. Acid House, Rave, Old skool, New Skool UK Hardcore is a pretty good record I think. Ministry of Sound do mash up cds...what's that if not OUR MUSIC that we INVENTED, Flip and Fill steal and rob, still we go on.

Unlike any other genre, we can't be pegged and that is the only danger to avoid 95

I thought one day I would and should grow out of it. At 22 I saw I wouldn't it was a way of life and something I can pass onto my kids. The rave scene had mums with their kids from the start and that is something else we should all be pleased with.

I may not like all that I hear but I buy it because I will find something in it I like.

When Change is needed, it will come, then we will remember the old times and re-invent that again, then new style to take from will come along and we will have Hardcore Muse or the Streets or our own new originals.

The Godfathers should be mentors and push their new talent like rap in the US but they should also stay true to what we are..Hardcore till we die.

Its nice they are still important but its only they case that they knew it was important to be nice.

Believe me, I love Scooter but not happy with a Status Quo tune. Its commercial, un-original and a little lazy. But to be honest come Christmas and a few happy sweets bouncing around I will dance to it over Boyszone's Christmas Crap and I will think thank F**K I have something to cling onto at Office parties. Give me Blackout Cru, Aqua, Headhunter and Scooter.

Then New Years pops up and many are miserable ( another year gone in my life ) We think YEEESSSSSSSSSS!!! Best night of the Year...NEC...Slammin Vinyl...game is back on, roll on summer vibe what's this year got for us.

Even if its a year of Old skool Nostalgia that means it won't be next year!!

Jesus! You are a sinacle c**t! I was trying to get people to think outside the box & stop just typing the same f**king s**t over & over again!

I also said we could put together a CD by HHC.com producers & we could show how we would like hardcore to progress in the future. Isn't this, as u put it, saving hardcore? Infact, don't even reply. I can't be doing with narrow mind edjits like yourself!

@ Stevie C: Hear, Hear! Well said mate
