ok so I've enjoyed playing with various sample packs, and different things for reason and fruity loops. I know my way around both (enough to navigate buttons and put a song together) but I guess I'm tired of creating songs that sound like all the others, so how do I create new sounds I can use when writing songs?

Use your ears, just do the opposite of what a normal song sounds like, just muck around with knobs and shit, it's fun, and eventually you'll get a good sound

get a book or find an online guide to synthesis
orrrr.... are you using all original FL plugin's? if so get some different synths for a wider range of presets to layer together
