What are some hardcore tunes that are... bittersweet? I mean, they're great songs, but then you're left disappointed.
The big one for me is Scott Brown & Brisk - Back and Forth. It starts out awesome, stays awesome... but then, at 4:18 it turns to gabber which imo does NOT fit with the song at all, then it makes an awkward transition back to normal, then the 2nd release is totally underpowered. It's short, doesn't have as much strength to it and there's no vocals (because it's so short I suppose). The outro is fine but the 2nd half of the song feels like it was just sloppily put together in half an hour.

no way that track is one of the best tracks ever
and the other side of the vinyl doesnt have a gabber part in the middle just carries on as the rest of the tune does mate

It's good for a gabber transition, and for the transition into gabber that Scott Brown makes with it in whatever Bonkers compilation it was in. :)

wat
Well yes the gabber part is good if you're transitioning to gabber but not if you're going to normal happy hardcore after that. And IMO it seriously doesn't fit in.
damn it what have I started...

Good point, it was used in Bonkers 10 and the next track was Art of Fighters 'Earthquake', just listening to it now on my iTunes. Funny enough, Hixxy also did something similar in his remix of Kurt's 'Rock Ya Hardcore'. I thought it was quite effective.

Tbh mate i think it sounds rather smashing. I like it when a track just flips on you. Gabber section or kick drum here, D&B, Old Skool section there. Why stick to the same formula throughout? Makes it so much more interesting and i think it fits quite well in that tune. It's not a mega cheesy hands in the air love fest, it actually (to me) sounds quite dark and haunting in parts... but maybe thats just me and my darth vader, darkside ways.

back n forth is wicked, its not very often i dont hear it as a transmition into gabber tho. anyway its still good. i like when happy tunes have a gabber bit in the middle, if ya dont, then tough shit!

It's hard to choose... but lately, DJ S3RL (my fav. DJ) has had some stinkers like Dealer, and Freak Show... however Little Kandi Raver wasn't to bad... :3

I've heard of some samples of DJ S3RL's new stuff and they are a litle darker. it's not bad but totally not the best from him i really thought he was gonna b the next best thing coming out after Darwin but i could be wrong
I love little kandi raver, keep on raving, pretty raver girl, his remix of raver raver raver (seein a theme here? lol!) and also I kiss and Slammer Jammer remix. been listenin to all those all day for a few weeks now
