There was Bouncy Techno in 1997 but alot of it was either turning into Gabber or Happy Hardcore from what I hear. The last Rez was in 1997 & Bass Generator Records stopped that year & with the Dutch moving on towards a harder & more agressive 'Nu Style' Gabber this left less Bouncy stuff from there. Saying that I have found a new tune I like from 1997: DJ Yves & The Twins- bloodbrain (DJ Yves mix) At first I thought it was Dutch & from 1995 but DJ Yves is from Belgium. A real good track with hard kicks & a good rift!
All I was saying that IMHO the cheesy riffs & big kickdrums of Bouncy Techno became part of Happy Hardcore. It became part of Happy Hardcore rather than dying off.

I have a number of Gabber favorites from 1997, just after it went Nu Style I loose interest! Some of Scott Brown's 'Nu Style' stuff is good though such as Scott Brown & Brisk- Do not attempt from 2002. (not that new now though)

It seems that from what I have heard of 1996 the only difference between English & Scottish hardcore was that English stuff had more vocals & pianos (although Scots had also picked up on that) & Scottish artists like Scott Brown & Technosis where leaning towards a more Gabber edge off labels like Twisted Vinyl. Tracls such as DJ Seduction- Step to the side (Impact, 1996) have both elements. Druid & Trixxy- E-motion (on Sharkey's mix on Bonkers 2) also has a very Bouncy edge.
