Alrite guys, wondering if any of you tech guys can help me out on this one please?
I have been playing my XBOX 360 through my LG HD Plasma TV for a while now, but I still can't help but noticing slowdown in games, especially Pro Evo 2009 etc when i'm using my HD component cable.
I use 720p Widescreen, now the graphics in terms of colours/sharpness are great but there always seems to be sufficient slowdown in replays/cutscenes etc.
I've noticed when I turn to standard TV resolution or 480p, the tv gives the option to have widescreen/normal mode, games like Pro Evo, GTA etc run so much more smoother & better on normal but the graphics are very blurry, widescreen setting seems to make the games run at a totally different pace, and not that enjoyable to play, only the graphics are sharper as my TV is supposed to be suited for that.
Also wondering guys, not sure if this is personal choice or not, but what is the best TV for gaming LCD or Plasma?
Would purchasing a better TV resolve this or is it to do with the XBOX cable itself, any advice would be appreciated, thanks?

It's the xbox, another TV will not help. I'm a 'ps3 fag' so I don't know much about xbox issues.
But.. are you using a cheap HDMI cable? I'm wondering if that might have anything to do with it.
I prefer plasma, full HD TVs, no more than 50"

by the sound of that 'slowdown' its nothing to do with your tv its the actual game which has the slowdown.
have you tried other games?this should confirm it.

he's using the component cables not hdmi, component cables will usually only do 1080i tops on most tvs.
did you set the resolution on the xbox options to 720p?

I would try plugging someone elses xbox to the tv before doing that, or plug the xbox into someone else's tv. slowdown in games I would think would come from the xbox itself not the tv.
I personally prefer using an lcd as I play a lot of games with items that are constantly on the screen and I didn't want to get a screen burn in...I know those don't happen as much now but I bought my tv when they did =P
both lcd and plasma are pretty close to each other as far as visual quality these days. only thing I've noticed on plasmas is they usually get a deeper black setting.

Cheers for the tips dude, will give it a try. The thing is, this is my second XBOX, the first one did the exact same, it was only the standard Core version, so I came to the conclusion that was the problem then :(
I was then in a confused state of affairs, deciding whether to go for another XBOX or PS3, but I had all my games for the previous XBOX, so I got one of the newer Premium Xbox's with the improved cooling system etc, but it plays the exact same, I thought it would be something to do with not having the Hard Drive, but me being daft as usual, that wasn't the case ;)

huh...could be your tv then. don't know why it would do that though. how long have you had the tv? maybe it has a refresh rate problem. did you change any settings on the tv when you put it on high def? also are those the only games it is doing it on?

Had it for just under 2 years, this is it here, it's pretty ancient I know, hehe:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-32LX2R-Widescreen-Ready-LCD/dp/B000AQQIBY/ref=sr_1_5/202-8309356-5812652?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193328443&sr=1-5 Not done anything major to the tv, just messed around with the HD Settings on the XBOX control panel, only adjusted slight things on my TV e.g sharpness, colours etc but that's about it. The only time games have ran smooth is when I had the standard tv cable for my XBOX, the problems only arise when it's on widescreen HD, it's annoying as hell :(

The speed the electronics industry moves is phenomenal.
In 2 years computers, phones, tv's, DVD players etc all get outdated.
Its hardly ancient, i agree, but its definitely outdated in terms of the electronics industry.
Anyway, i say you should take it as a sign and get a ps3, like you should have done in the first place :)

Similar thing is happening to the PS3 after about a year of use. The blu-ray lens stops working and you can't play games/dvd.
Happened to me a few weeks back. They sent me another one free of charge. Arrived 2 or 3 days later.
