well heres a thing, i always figured freeform to be the darker experimental side to hardcore..
and ages ago sharkey said in his DJ Mag interview pretty much the same thing...
..
...so hardscape imo - may aswell just be freeform.
where freeform should have gone? maybe so, freeform and breakbeat have always been the stronger styles imo.
like i said - "hardscape" just seems to be an attempt to pigeon-hole the freeform genre down into small genre's even...cause i dont think its far enough away from freeform to get its own name. and like i said earlyer - isnt this the whole point in freeform in the first place.

hardscape seems more experimental, more industrial almost.
like in the original hardscape track by CLSM, he's got the double bass drum goin thru most of the song.
if freeform was meant to be a darker hardcore, hardscape is meant to be a darker freeform.

saying its "darker freeform" is almost a Non sequitur
because freeform is freeform, its supposed to be experimental

Despite its name Freeform has (like all Dance genres) become pretty formulaic. When I see the description of Freeform I think that should be interesting but it always seems to be fast hard trance. Luna-C is one of the few people making 'Freeform' music (i.e. all kinds of styles & influences) and he wouldn't claim to be a Freeform artist!
Any attempt to include variation is good IMHO.

Right, i'm going to start a Hardscape track. I'm starting to understand how freeform is sequenced & i'd like to have a go @ Hardscape if it its a sound of the future.
Whats the average tempo of Hardscape then? If Hardcores about 170+ then i'm guessing Hardscape will be 160-170. Let me know!

Yes I remember it.
Pretty sure that was a rhetorical question.

The average tempo of hardscape is anything. The Electrux tracks are produced at around 160-165bpm, and ive got some new bits by Electrux which are at 158, yet its still hardscape. The thing with freeform is that to begin with, it had no boundaries, hence it being called freeform. Most hardscape is also produced at a tempo inbetween hard dance and hardcore, to enable it to transition between the styles. Also music produced slower sounds better.
Hardscape is NOT an attempt to get freeform back to its trancecore roots. Everyone instantly thinks of the acid/trance driven sound when you mention freeform and this is going against what it is supposed to stand for. Also, trying to pass off different material as freeform often failed which frustrated people no end.
Hence, the creation of Hardscape. Its basically a no-holds barred, everything goes sub-genre of hardcore. Hopefully, it wont become stale like freeform has.
