What are your thoughts on the new Electro Hardcore sound? I'm loving it. Just when I was going to quit buying and listening to Hardcore after being so bored of the Trance type stuff been pumped out for the last 8 years. This new sound has brought my passion back. I know there will be people who don't like it, but hardcore has to evolve otherwise it will start to die off. Has already happened in Australia. Parties are a lot less frequent these days.
When the hardcore started to die off in the late 90's early 2000's. The djs evolved with the current dance sound which was Trance. People did'nt like it at first but then they got used to it and it became poplular.
Electro Hardcore to me is the way Hardcore will sound a lot more like in the future. Labels like Lethal Theory, Thin n Crispy, Infinity, Electrik etc are already releasing it. Trancey stuff will stick around for a few more years yet, but will start to sound a lot more Electro infused Trance. Which is the way Trance is going at the moment.

'I like Electro, Hardcore Techno, House and Ghetto;)

I said a while ago that if hardcore carries on going down this path then I won't be buying anymore.

Loving tracks like I don't like it and Rippin'. Not so keen on the more cheese electro influenced tunes. It just doesn't work at 170+bpm... Makes all the sounds seem really weak.

Awful electro synths, they sound crap.

I'd like to hear an electrobassline in core though. :L

I enjoyed it when it first came out tbh. It was fresh and exciting and different to what was being churned out by the band-wagon-jumping producers who, had by then, completely killed the trancey sound. Now what's happened? That's right, they're doing the same with the electro sound. There's just no need. It's gotten old really, really fast. Artists like Kurt and Gammer, who at one point were two of the most innovative producers around imo, have just produced and played these "electro-hardcore" tracks to death. Or maybe i just don't like the style cos my musical tastes have changed... either way it's gash

I like to hear elements of it in hardcore, that's fine. :)

The trance sound is fine but it got beat to death. Seriously. For a while almost every track that came out sounded trancey or something like that.

This new "electro" sound I hate. Urgh.

in small doses i like it... the aptly named electro hardcore by cruze & breaks is an example of it working well imo.

that being said... keep it limited... there's no reason for a subgenre or anything.. it's just hardcore that happens to have electro-y sounding elements.
