im gonna assume you mean flash-drive-mp3-player, not....flash as in...embedded in a web page flash mp3 player...
i have a 512mb philips one i bought for £4 and its been through hell and back and still works lol no need for any 3rd party software...just acts like a normal thumbdrive :)
i never use it now though.

Thats pretty shite mate. Hope you went and sorted who ever stole it.
Your lucky. Most manz ipods who get jacked are never seen again.
And of course the ipod is the best mp3 player out there.

i never found out who stole it.. but i was over the moon when i found it
it had been missing for about 4 or 5 months then i saw my mate with it, identified it as being mine because of some scratches it had on it and the saved games, so he gave it me..
his brother had bought it off someone who bought it off someone else then given it to his brother cos his mp3 player broke for one day, that day was the day i was with him..
the odds are completely huge but i was reeeeally chuffed

iPod all the way ! Or hardPod, how I call it .
I've still got the first one, the mini, since 2004, it's got a lot of scratches and is 'bumped' everywhere, the screen is even broken because once it was like 'blocked' on a track and I couldn't come back, so I got angry, took my knucks and hit on the menu button but unfortunately I hit beside... lol. Well it's not totally broken, just a bit, I can still read everything that's written on it.
Appart from that thing that sometimes it's 'blocked', it work perfectly. I know how to unlock it now anyway : I just have to connect it from my computer and then disconnect it again. Well, it just hapenned twice in almost 5 years so I think that's not really a big problem :) .

i guess i'm 1 of the very few that despise ipods. i had trouble uploading a lot of hardcore songs on the nano i got and it was impossible to deal with. every time i would try and put too much on there, i would lose the info somehow. it was the biggest pain in the ass i have ever had 2 deal with
as far as abuse goes, i haven't done anything to it ... yet. there were times i wanted 2 throw it across the room.
i now use a Zune, which is made by microsoft. i have sweaty palms so the thing is always moist and it have never had any physical problems. however, there was 1 day where it was frozen for some reason. so i had 2 let the battery die and turned it back up again and it was fine. it was a great deal too 30GB and cost $100 US and it's normally $200 US. it's a year old too and it still works great.

In all honesty I would recommend a zune. Mine has been roughed up a lot (i.e., dropped-off-the-roof-of-a-two-story-house roughed up)
but still works perfectly.

Apparently you have a 1st gen 30GB zune. There was a bug in the clock driver, that, to put it simply, made it where they couldn't handle the extra day in a leap year. If you look at the clock driver's source code you'll find an infinite loop where the clock driver calculates years based on a given number of elapsed days.
I have a different model (zune 120gb) so mine still worked that day.
