Hi there,

I am an occasional lurker here and I thought I might as well put up my mixes here and get some feedback from people over the world.

Here is the first one, I have another two I will be uploading.

http://91.121.76.67/roy/Roy%20Padron%20-%20Energized%20Insomnia%20(UK%20Hardcore).mp3

My style is a bit different from what you normally hear, let me know what you think of it.

Hope you like it.

Cheers.

Hi there,

My style is very fast and dynamic, I am mostly mixing two tunes at a same time for their whole length and I try to create new stuff. Basically I dislike the usual cueing at the end of a track to mix another track. Mine is more of an on-going thing, I like to keep it creative and impress the crowd with new things.

The BPM is aprox 190. I emailed Silver if he'd be interested in playing my sets but he said it it was too fast for the radio listeners, despite he liked the idea. I personally prefer 180 to 200 BPM but then, I am more of an extreme type.

You will hear from UK hardcore to Makina to Hard House to Gabber on my sets but always with the happy vibe attached to it. I like it hard but I also like it cheering. My sets are the kind of stuff you can hear going to work to wake yourself up or getting ready for the night drinking with your buddies on a Friday night.

I will search the tracklist and post it.

Cheers!

Not my sorta thing really mate. Just sounds like a bad mash up mix to me, sorry.

Thanks for listening Meathead. I do agree it may sound like a mash up, I certainly prefer to mix and blend and not leave songs playing until the end. I am fond of enhancing tunes with other ones so as to try and create something out of it (sometimes in detriment of the main song, as you may seem to think). I have received quite positive feedback on my mixing and style, but then I have played to a biased crowd that thrives on a DJ showing their mixing skills and ability to manage three decks (as well as "toughening up" lyrical songs). I want to broaden my scope for feedback though, which is why I thought of posting up my mix (and future mixes, if you guys want) in here, as people over the world visit this site.

I do not agree however, on the fact that it is bad. I actually play with three decks and mix two tunes at the same time anywhere from 3 to 5 mins and most of the time throw in a third one too. This actually takes a bit of work, especially with a speed of 190 BPM. From a DJ perspective, it has been a long time since I got bored of cueing one song onto the last 45 seconds of another. From a crowd perspective, I believe it brings some fresh air.

It is still good to know that this style may not be liked elsewhere and by other people.

Would appreciate more feedback

Cheers!

this is just my opinion mate, but i think you are concentrating too much on mix`n
trying to mix as much as possible and using more decks doesn`t always make for a better mix.

you end up missing some of the vibes/feelings certain trax give you by over mix`n
just like years back when scratching was really popular,
some dj`s overdone it imo and they would scratch all the way through the best part of the track
there is nothing wrong with your mix`n but just a bit too much of it imo.

i suppose you could say it was a good mega mix though..or mash up..or whatever its called now days
and you have a variety in the mix which is lacking these days.

Thanks Catjam.

I am aware of that but as you can see, I do not have a fresh selection of tracks hence my style is what differs me from other dj's. If you hear one of my mixes, you will definitively know it is mine without me having to say anything on the mic. Just like Scott Brown tends to start cheesy and finish with some gabber and what not, my style is what differentiates me from the all so many dj's.

If I were to just mix the tunes in a conventional style, I would just be another dj. I am not content with that though.

True Bass, I will put up a tracklist for this set today and will post another set which is 90 minutes long.

hey man, thankyou for the mix, what was it mixed on? i heard you say it was on 3 decks but what kind of decks? computer decks...cd decks...or turntables?
reason i asked is cause some of the songs seemed sped up but key-locked..

was a fast mix! 200bpm at some points?! some of the mixing was a little out as with some of the songs that were layered as a 3rd..but i enjoyed it all the same :)

I'll check this out

I do this kind of layered mixing but I'm very careful about clashing...Looking forward to hearing your style.

Check out my mixes too, if you'd like (in my sig).

Hi people,

Thanks for the input. I have been very busy with work and I spend my weekends here and there so have not had time to put up a tracklist. I am going to try today. However, I will also post a new set which I am 100% confident you will all enjoy. It is one and a half hours long, Silver was going to host it on his radio but the quality is 192kbps (which I thought would be enough). I will soon covert it to 320kbps so he can host it.

I use a cdj and two laptops. However, I am NOT one of those pseudo-djs that uses "virtual dj" or whatever gimmick djing programs there are. I use a program on each laptop which is based upon the Denon Dn-2000F CD player, so technically I use my laptops as another two cdjs. The program is very basic, it has cueing and the pitch button, that's it. I am living in Dublin but I originate from Spain, and it is there that I have my two technics turnplates (along with over 200 oldskool hardcore vynils), so I am currently limited to this equipment for dj-ing.

As said, I will try to put a tracklist for this set and put a new set.

Cheers!

Roy

Hello Roy, do you make any freeform mixes? If you do, it would be very appreciated if you uploaded on these forums!
