So for Christmas, Santa got me two CDJ800s (mk2s). And I couldn't be any more happier. I finally got everything hooked up and in working order. So I couldn't resist breaking them in. Something tells me I'll be mixing a lot more now :P
As always, feedback is appreciated - but never required. Any who, enjoy!

Nice, but I think it's more something for chillaxing than partying. Not because of the tunes ( they're good ), but cause of the way you're mixing. I never play a track more than 2 minutes or so, and that actually makes my mix more powerfull and full of energy, you know, the mixing is very tight. A track starts and the other one already begins before you can even recognize the one that has been played before :-). I don't wait the whole 6 minutes of the track for the outro to come, so that I can mix the intro of the next song in it, haha that's boring !
BTW what mixer do you have ?

I own a Pioneer DJM 600.
I know what you are saying though. We like to call it "quick mixing" here in AZ. I don't know if the same term is used worldwide...but I think thats what you're getting at.
And ya I know exactly what you mean. I have to get use to quick mixing on CDJs. For some reason, its easier for me to do it on vinyl. I think thats because you can jump the needle to anywhere you want without having to hold a button down. Sometimes I'll overshoot it on a CDJ and miss it by 16 counts or something.
But thanks for the comment - I take everything with a grain of salt.
Is that the expression I'm looking for? LoL

You do have a point about letting EVERY track play throughout and only mixing intro to outro, but doing every transition in a "quick-mix" style can be just as bad. Sometimes you have to let a tune play long enough for people to enjoy it. I throw in a few quick-mixes in my mixes too but also sometimes allow the tracks to play. Its all about finding a balance IMO.
Ixnay: Revs is partly right. The mixing was a little bland. Intro's to outro's every transition does get boring after a while. We hear enough of that on mainstream compilations :p. Change up the style a little bit sometimes and it'll be lovely. Good tracklist though and the mixing was pretty tight.

Along with what Meathead said....
Quick-mixing isn't necessarily hard to do...its all about timing. A whole mix with nothing but quick-mixes is probably going to sound like a mash up unless its rehearsed. Lets face it, certain songs have so much going on, it will only clash.
I was trying to avoid that during this mix, though I did add some teasers here and there. But you guys are right and I completely agree with what you are trying to convey.
No worries, next time :D

Great mix, good mixing. I love it. Do you have a tracklist for this mix?

Hey all,
Really appreciating the feedback, glad you all are enjoying it. I know the lot of you have been me to send off the tracklist. I'll get on that sooner or later, just been slammed with work and other things around the house. Its hard enough finding time to mix let alone go back and track out the mix, heh.
But I'll get it to you all - maybe after I finish this work week.

i'd agree that its all about having a balance of letting a track play out & 'quick mixing' as you like to call it. and as someone already said.. quick mixing can add an element of pace &/or energy to your mix
ill be on the download later when i get home mate!
i've just got some cd decks too so ill be posting my first cd deck mix soon, for all you more underground hardcore heads i'm sure you'll be loving what i got lined up!
