Iv got a problem with cubase, whenever i press a key on the keyboard it takes about a second before the vst will make a sound. theres like a second delay on things. its the same with samples too there is and echo a second later whenever i play a sample on it.
but if i write a midi event and play that it plays back fine.
i thought it was just having a crappy computer but iv just got another one with 2.33 processor and 2gb ram. wot is wrong with it!?! does anybody know?
oh the soundcards an asus one too.

It sounds like you need to adjust the buffer on either your soundcard or within Cubase.

right. Go to devices and select "device setup". There should be an option that says "VST audio system". The first pull down menu that appears is to choose the driver. look for one that says "ASIO" in it. if there's more than one try them out to see which one offers less latency/delay.
I'm using Cubase Studio 4 btw, but that should work similarly on other versions.
also, unless you have a dedicated sound card(pro level), some latency in the vst playback is the norm.
