Lucky being here though, Brisbane rarely gets over 40... i think the highest recorded temp is/was 43 celcius.. ages ago... always a very agreeable temperature during summer, usually 30-36.. sometimes 28-29, etc.

hit 47.9 yesterday in parts of Victoria, i think it was 26 people so far confirmed dead. a whole town was burnt down, only few buildings still left standing. most of the fires are now under control. dont think it will get as hot today. thoughts go out to the families

here in the southeast part of Texas, US we don't have the coldest or hottest, but the most inconsistent. one day we have the highs in the high 40s F, and the next day the highs are in the 70s F. it may not sound that bad, but the instability of the weather is making everyone sick!
it seems like this inconsistent weather has been happening for almost a month now. i got sick about 3 weeks ago and a few days later i got better, but everyone started getting sick within the last 3 weeks. some of my friends after me, or before me. now 3 weeks later, i'm sick again! it's crazy and i feel so miserable :(
luckily all i got now is a horribly stuffy nose, which i will get some medicine specifically for that tomorrow morning

At least your skin isn't slowly being burnt off and your body being turned to charple while your loved ones trapped near you suffer the same fate.
sorry after seeing todays news about people dying in Australia i realise my comment was not really appropriate

yeah the bushfires are nuts.... so sad to hear about people losing their lives or if theyve survived, losing everything they own....
i came back home just over a week ago and went from minus temperatures in europe to 44 degrees :o i wasnt coping.... especially going to the big day out the day after and it being 43 degrees..... adelaide had a heatwave where for 2 weeks it did not drop below 40 or something ridiculous like that..... lucky its cooled down now.... give the old air con a bit of a rest and get it geared up for the next heatwave heh....

but yeh i when i was little there was bushfires where i live and like the fire burnt the house behind us down and our backfence down, we were so lucky to still have our house
but i cant beleive that someone deliberately lit these, its a joke, they should be charged with murder

was that the 94 or 97 fires? the worst one for us was 02. whole of menai peninsular pretty much got toasted. Fire was 200m away up the top of our road. All along Alford's Point Rd was completely burnt on, was funny how the fire completely surrounded the Rural Fire Brigade station at Illawong, but didnt get it. Our family is pretty lucky when it comes to bushfires and living pretty much on the edge of the bush, we are close to the reactor, and they will go to any length to save that.

No it doesn't, blood boils at a similar temperature to water.
