A little bit ago when I was out for a walk, I came to this 4-way stop intersection in a residential area. This teen idiot in his dodge neon rolls up, texting on his cell. After a few seconds there are 7 cars behind him, and the guy in the SUV behind him has to lay on the horn and flash his lights to get the kid's attention. He drives through, still texting, barely even looking at the road. Then he gets his eyes off his precious cell just in time to swerve out of the way of an oncoming car. God this kind of crap pisses me off. That kid deserves to get a nice smacking. How the hell can this kind of stuff still be legal.

some residential areas, or districts, have a no-cell phone law. this is especially true around schools. you can't be on your cell phone while driving. if you are caught with it, you get a ticket

Yeah, cell phone usage is illegal in some areas, but not that many when you think about it. It needs to be illegal everywhere.

You know what's funny?
I can get pulled over for having my music a certain level, but not for texting.
LOVE YOU UNITED STATES!

In several other countries yes, but in the US, only a few areas.

We now get a £60 fine and three penalty points for using a mobile (cell) phone and driving. That puts the offence on par with most speeding offences in the eyes of the UK police.

Your right, but people still use the earpiece/Bluetooth, etc... I'm fortunate cuz being on disability I get to ride for free anywhere in IL! I haven't had a lincense since 97'! It's a pain to park and drive and all that ish that goes along with living in Chicago! I jsut don't bother with cars, I'll hitch a ride but I don't drive!

"Hands free" cell usage is just as bad, possibly worse.
