oddly enough, when our savings ran to a "uh oh" point, i went to see if i could get any benifits to help us out - after all, we have a freekin 6 week old son!!!

and i couldnt get jobseekers allowance
i was told

1. Even if i lived alone: i havent been in the country long enough to be able to claim
2. because i dont live alone and my partner is getting maternity allowance - shes making too much for me to get anything (£117 a week is maternity allowance)

so yeah - i dont know how they manage to do the whole benefit fraud thing...

and because i couldnt get jobseekers allowence - we couldnt get the £500 sure start maternity grant...and neither could my fiancee - because the maternity allowence that all chicks get when they are preggo and off work..is MORE than the maximum income for you to apply for the sure start....

i could carry on about how much other stuff we couldnt get too haha

You shouldn't have told them you have a partner. If it was just someone you shared the house with I doubt they could have counted her earnings.

i felt bad just going in there to scrounge...

which is silly really, considering how much we are taxed!

i felt like i would have been one of those people that people hate on for getting benefits - whilst the reason i was going in was entirely valid and exactly why benefits are there for!

still - doesnt matter now, found a good job!

i would never have lied to them about it - not because im afraid of them or because i care about our govenment in the slightest. but its our public money when it comes down to it, its not just mine to **** with ya know - if i dont like it, i complain to the govenment about the rules in place, i wouldnt bend the rules i dont think

we vote em in, they put the rules there - if we dont like the rules, vote someone else in...or complain to em about the rules that are in place to try and get somthing done about it
which is what i did lol

I think in your situation you should have had benifits. As long as you can show you're looking for a job obviously.

Congrat's on the new job anyways.

Good. Maybe now you'll have more time to start producing again.

The whole benefit system is just crap. The rules, the way it works and how they decide who can claim it. Im on jsa and have been for 1 month. Im always looking for a job. On friday i travelled 3 hours for an application form! everyone should be allowed to claim benefits, if you do then you should be forced to work for them, do some kind of training that will help you get a job, if you dont do it u get **** all
