as with everything else, it's fine in moderation. it's an amazing way of keeping in touch with people. for example, when you go off to college... good luck keeping up with your hs friends without some sort of newtorking site. if you sit on facebook 8 hours a day, yea it's a problem... but how many people actually do that? if you're so socially awkward that facebook ruins your ability to function in society... you've got problems that go way beyond facebook and it's merely a means to your eventual failure. can't blame facebook for that.

makes some valid points. but my tolerance for annoying ppl is high, and it was all through having a job in customer service, which i really suggest everyone should get 1 point in their lives. i worked at a retail store for 5 years and had to put up with some of the worst customers, as well as employees
that definitely built my tolerance of annoying/irritating ppl.

Yeah O have a customer service job at the moment and so many people are infuriating. Bt the problem is you are able to vent at them so it doesn't help much with learning how to deal with irritations, just how to tolerate it. They're not the same.

uh no i don't vent at them. if i was rude or vented my anger of them to them i could lose my job.
and yea they can be the same. i learned to deal with irritations by tolerating them!

The thing about facebook is, i have a lot of friends - friends that i see on a regular basis... Facebook is useful, it's good for when you need to kill some time and it makes everything so ****ing easy. Honestly, anyone who has to bitch about facebook THAT much, must not be able to make good use of it - must not have a very full social calender - must not have many friends :S
i'm just kind of disappointed i guess that socialization has been dumbed down to a text box and send button. it seems really detached from real life i think. plus, maybe it's a canadian thing, but people here are nice to your face, and can be total opposites behind your back (but i think this is a worldwide thing, not exclusive to canada).
which brings me to my next point - you are right, i don't have many friends, however i do have too many "friends" on facebook.
and i am the a pretty cynical guy.
i just don't give a shit about stuff on facebook. i think it's a terrible creation, straight up, and that it takes up too much of people's lives. i'm entitled to my opinion, you to yours. i'm a different person than most people.
if you all love facebook, good for you.

it's not a canadian thing it's everywhere. the way ppl act oppositely in front of u from behind ur back has always been like that, it's just that it's more obvious these days with technology. plus u r probably a good reader of ppl's body language and whatnot
and socialization being dumbed down was inevitable. it would've happened sooner or later because we are all striving to live a faster paced and easier life, so all these fancy gadgets and technology do just that. hell in a matter of decades robots are gonna be serving us at Chili's rather than people! Japan already made a robot waiter so it's only a matter of time till we cut a deal with China to start mass-producing them.
