I got into this discussion with one of my roommates, who noticed something and brought it up.

And I began to think about it, and found it applied to myself as well.

Now, let me start off by I listen to A LOT of music. My range is not bound by Hardcore, or Electronic music itself. I listen to everything from Hardcore to Rap to Metal to Drum n Bass to Old School Rock to Electro House to R & B to Punk Rock. Hopefully you can see I listen to a lot of things. but the majority of what I listen to are Electronic (Just going to dub it all under this).

Now the thing he brought up is: Do music tastes change with the seasons?

I thought this was stupid at first, because I automatically thought "Well I listen to everything all the time" which I do, but I then I thought about it.

After thinking about it for some time, I realized that through the many sub-genre's of Electronic music, my tastes wavered towards some sun-genre's over others depending on the season. In the winter I begin to like the harder tune's. Something with kicking bass that blow out my speakers.

But as time moves towards spring and summer, I'm starting to listen to Happy Hardcore more then I did during the winter months.

So my question is, do you like some genre's over others during certain seasons?

I still have my genre's which I like over others of course, but as the season changed I'll listen to something a little more. Of course I'll always listen to something no matter what season, but I tend to turn into something new during the season that I kind of ignored during another.

My tastes don't change although I tend to listen to certain mixes in an anniversary of another mix (like one year after hearing a sick mix I listen to it again to bring back memories) Or soemtimes even 5 years!

Seasons, no. But in phases yes i do. Which is a good thing though because it really re-energizes a genre you havent listened to in a while.

well the obvious seasonal change in music is during winter because of christmas music. now we all get sick and tired of it after a few days, in my case i never liked it except 1 song. so if u have a broad range of music u listen to, you are obviously gonna run and listen to something that sounds far away as possible as those godawful christmas jingles.

i catch myself listening to more freeform and gabber tracks during that time.

I think everyone goes through phases. Since 2008 I've gone through a happy hardcore stage, gabber, jazz, happy hardcore, gabber, then happy hardcore again.

Emotion-wise, when I'm feeling down I'll listen to the most happy/sugary/cheesy hardcore I can find but that usually just makes me cry.

I listened to Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You! Had a real buzz off that!
