This has been on my mind alot and i always seem to bring it up in conversations with mates when were drunk aswell so thought id see what you guys think....
Since were in the last year of the "Naughties" Do you think that any music fromt this decade will still be played in 50 or so years time?
I dont just mean hardcore i mean anything, i mean theres still "best of the 50's/60's/70's/80's/90's" cds around. I just cant see any music this decade that will stand the test of time.
At least the 90's had Oasis and the chilli peppers which i think really will stand the test of time. And only 1 trance song springs to mind that will be played many years ahead and its a remix AND i think it might be 99 (correct me if im wrong though).
I mean i know there will always be die hard fans of certain genre's, i for example will be one of the ones listening to 90's happy hardcore in many years time but i cant see there being a best of hardcore cd in 2060 or even a best of 00's.
The music quality this decade is pretty shite tbh. I cant see all the wannabe gangsta's listening to there akon albums in 50 odd years lol. Or bustin Lady soverign out of their speakers whilst shouting pow pow braaap braaap!
So what are your thoughts?
And smoogie please dont spam the thread with bouncy techno videos because im sorry as much as you, me and others may regard them as classics there not going to stand the test of that amount of time. Simple as that.
Sorry if it seems like im slagging of the decade where hardcore is probably as big as its ever going to be but its just how i feel. And this is not a pop at all the commercial hardcore nowadays, you like what you like simple as that.
So anyway....
Do you think that any music fromt this decade will still be played in 50 or so years time?

im sure some of it will - mainly because of the kids that are growing up with it...
just as i will continue to play old dance from 90's..so will the younger people play the dance of 00's....
my son's gonna know music from top to bottom, and i would hope he will be listening to music from all sorts of decades for years and years after i've kicked the bucket...and he'll pass it on to his..and so on and so on...

In 50 years we'll either all be dead or we'll all be cyborgs dominating the galaxy with an iron fist.
If you ask me, all of the genres like hardcore will still be alive and retain their general characteristics but will evolve over time like they always have. So no, I don't think much of the sounds of today's electronica music will be the sounds of tomorrow. Acoustic-wise, with the exception of some genres such as rock, rap, and a few others, will probably not change much.

Don't think much of today's pop music will stand the test of time, as it's pretty much shit all of it. Pop producers only care about making what sells, rather than actually bother making good music. Today's good music doesn't get as much attention as it should.

I dont think so... I mean right know there is not any real musical movement that can characterize this decade, all the big genres does not longer exist, everything is a mix of genres and subgenres, and very few good music being released

the only type of music that i see possibly being played in 50 yrs is hiphop tunes. seems they make a huge impact and some that were played the beginning of the millenium are still being played frequently in the clubs/bars
but i will probably never have kids, so i'll be playing my music collection to myself to help me remember the good times till the day i pass away.
