Happy
Breakbeat
Freeform
Gabber
Makina
if you want you can throw "nu skool" or "old skool" before each of those
though after that it just gets silly

Sounds all the same to me, except the speed, which is the only difference I'd notice in this genre of music.

I'd disagree with the Happy one, prefer the term UK!

Uk and happy are different though arnt they?
I class for example Dougal Bonkers 3 as Happy hardcore NOT old skool or uk.
Edit: Also would Hardscape fall under the Hardcore genre, seeing as freeform does?

you can disagree all you want - but it wont take the word "happy" away from the word "hardcore" on and inside the inlays of most of the hardcore compilations released before 2000 :P
"UK Hardcore" wasnt used until more recently to slap onto the more modern style of hardcore that frequents most albums these days - and is generally interchangable with just calling it "Hardcore"...so didnt bother putting "UK Hardcore" as a style there, like i said, it just starts getting silly
UK Hardcore
NL Hardcore
US Hardcore
NW Hardcore
JP Hardcore
blah blah blah blah pigeon-holing to these extents is just gay
plus that wiki entry use's "Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music" as grounds for fact

It used to be called trancecore but now everyone just calls it freeform. I know people will call me a twat and basically troll me for saying so, but if you ask me I think the definition is all wrong. In my opinion freeform is, well, the current freeform style. Trancecore is hardcore that heavily resembles trance, but still, of course, has the hardcore tempo and sound to it.

What i use:
Happy Hardcore
UK Hardcore / new UK mainstream Hardcore, sometimes include Freeform
Freeform
Gabber / Dutch Hardcore
Makina / Spanish Hardcore (This often has HHC, and UK/Dutch/Italian Hardcore mixed with it, so its not that specific genre. But if you listen the mixes, you'll notice that its still "diffrent")
Frenchcore / French Hardcore
JHardcore / Japanese Hardcore (this mostly just specifies the language of lyrics or the origin of the music)
Speedcore
The genre names i use is purely based on the conversation and the need to specify something. I'm not too puristic about the names, but sometimes get irritated when e.g. new UK Hardcore is referred to as HHC.
