Okay I know this is weird but I need help.

I've been trying to record my mixes with audacity but it doesn't work.
On the screen, a waveform appears ( which means there's a signal, so I've selected the right input ) but I can't listen to what I've recorded, it just makes a "beeeee" all the time.

I think it has something to do with the inputs/outputs.

I'm using a Timecode software btw.

So atm my connections look like that ( except the mic, I don't have any.. ) :

When I go in Audacity's preferences, I have the choice :

Playback :
Device :
- Built-in Audio ( currently set )
- M-Audio Conectiv ( that's the timecode box, yeah SSL was too expensive )
- Soundflower ( 2ch )
- Soundflower ( 16ch )

Recording :
Device :
- Built-in Audio
- M-Audio Conectiv ( currently set )
- Soundflower ( 2ch )
- Soundflower ( 16ch )
Chanels :
1 ( mono )
2 ( stereo )
3
4
5
etc …

In the timecode software I've set :

Audio Interface : M-Audio Conectiv

So what's wrong ? Can anyone help ? That would be awesome.
Thanks in advance,
Revs.

Ummm. If that's the same as your setup then you're not sending a signal from your mixer to the laptop to be recorded. You need a phono to jack to send a signal from either your record or both on your mixer to the line in on your laptop.

The usb connection to your Serato box is only sending a signal out and doesn't work both ways.

HTH.

Ohhhh very true ! Now I understand what the "beeeee" is, it's the sound of the vinyl.

So what do I have to do now ? ( thx btw )

No prob's man. Like I said, just get a phono to jack cable and wire it up from either your record or booth on your mixer to the input on your laptop.

That will be you set. :)

Hmm doesn't seem to work, didn't know where to plug in the cable on the mixer.

I plugged it in "output - tape" but it doesn't work.

The line out of your mixer, or infact ANY output (that produces sound) on it, needs to go to the line in of your Laptop. Before you plug the cable in listen to what sound is coming through the output, assuming that is ok then it has to be something to do with the laptop. You need to make sure you've selected the right channel to record in windows. I'm guessing since your getting some sound, a buzzing sound, that you've set the hardware up wrong somewhere.
It's really as simple as that.

There is no audio going to the laptop for recording, you need to get another cable and plug the second master out or the booth out on the mixer into the laptop's linein and record using another program on the lappy.

I just got this fixed yesterday...

you need to get a RCA(red and white) to jack(like headphones) cable. the RCA cable goes into your output of ur mixer and the jack goes to the line in on your computer....also i had a weird "beeeeee" sound as well if u turn down the record volume... that is what did it for me

That's exactly what I've done !

Or maybe I've set up something wrong in audacity ? But I don't think so.

I'm sure it's one of my stupid and weird mistakes again.

In windows mixer select the recording options from the menu make sure you have selected the line in as the recording device and that the volume is around 75% (in case of distortion).... I would screenshot you but I'm using Japanese windows so that aint gonna help you.
