I'm thinking...
about how making tracks of a same genre can limit your creativity...
beautiful songs that can be hidden within your imagination, within you, and they will never see the light because you are suposed to make a hardcore track (or any other genre)
I dare to say that most of us start a new project saying something like "ok, lets make a hardcore song... (another)"... instead of "lets make a piece of music" a piece that can express what i feel, or what i want others to feel...
but no, we just stick to the formula we know... a kick like this, a bass like that, a breakdown here, a build up there, and bang! a new song.... and thats it?? of course if you are trying to make a hardcore track, thats what you should do, but i dont know, sometimes I think there should be more, i mean before anyhting else, we are musicians and there are so many things could be done...
i dont know, maybe this is just crap, but i felt like writing about it...

I never open a new project like that. I have no intention of limiting myself to one genre, why should i? I might in the past have been unhappy (not to as an extent as other people) about Styles amongst, others, trying new styles, but now i realise why. Making Hardcore is f*cking boring enough, making just Hardcore is awful. At the moment im trying abit of everything, some Hardcore, Dubstep, Progressive and Funky House and right now making a really Old Skool House / Hardcore tune. Why should one limit themselves to this or that? If music is your passion then why let what other people influence the decisions you make. If you dont want to make other genres and are happy to stick to Hardcore then fair play go ahead, but if youre not content with just the one style then branch out. Music is your passion, as it is for most of us, so fulfill your passion however you wish. Music is music, man. Dont be stopped by boundaries and limitations, smash em down.

on the subject though...
I like to think of my specialty as hardcore. I used to play metal as some of you may know but in the end it's just another pigeonhole. When I came across happyhardcore it sounded so innovating to me at the time I completely overlooked the formulaic-ness of the style (maybe cuz it wasn't so formulaic back in the 90's?). Later on as I started to DJ I came to understand the patterns within tracks and accepted them as part of what makes HHC kick ass.The intro's and the outro's, I acquired a taste for these elements.
to wrap it up, yes there are limitations in hardcore as there are in other styles but part of the challenge is to innovate within those limitations and I've made the choice, and keep making it, to keep it hardcore related.
