I do a bit of both really. I have my folders like this:

F:\Music\Genre\Album

(Its drive F cause I have a separate partition for music just like Atomsk was saying. I experienced losing ALL my music reformatting my hard drive and I'm not doing that again)

But that works cause I know what album I'm looking for and it's easy enough to find individual tracks after that. But I also use a library program for easy listening like. I don't like iTunes and I don't have an iPod so I'm not obliged to use it. I use Creative Media Source Player for my Zen X-fi instead.

Probably because it is :P K-hole recommended it to me in this topic. Its an open source player, so thats good. But the main reason for ditching iTunes was because it had bloated into a big pile of turd, forcing quick time and all that shite. So it was time to move on.

i have about the same

most of them are from a time before i was on the internet and on a computer, so relied on knowing what track was on which cd...
