I think I was supposed to be born in England...
never too late for you to move there now.
and yes i remember MC Gobbstoppa he never overdid it in the hullabaloo mp3s that I have. He was just pretty chill
Well i don't know how the other Americans really feel and think about the MCs but for me I see it as trying to take a kitchen stove with you when you go camping. It's unnecessary and excessive, and you can easily survive without one.
I'd like to hear what the Aussies think about MCs. could someone please fill us in on the feeling of MCs?
Think about it this way.
You listen to British music. Not American.
American/Australian/Canadian produced hardcore is still UK Hardcore
LOL @ nationalized music.
I havent heard the term "UK" hardcore ****ing ever... i speak to a lot of people from the UK and no one has called it that. I personally call it "upfront" but most non-idiots just call it hardcore. If it isn't hardcore its freeform, gabber, cheese, whatever.
But it's definitely not "british" music. It's just music.

Yes, people in the UK just call it hardcore.
I thought "upfront" meant "brand new" or "unreleased"?

i actually do call it UK Hardcore because the ppl who do know anything about EDM tend to think that when i mean hardcore I mean gabber. Is there any sort of difference between actual hardcore and gabber? When I tell them i'm in2 hardcore, they think i mean angerfist
So i use UK hardcore to specify the hardcore that is spoken about here.

I always called it UK Hardcore because 'Happy' Hardcore would refer to the older stuff, and to just call it Hardcore would be confusing to people outside of England, because the rest of Europe listens to what we call 'Gabber' and that is their Hardcore. Incidentally it's far bigger than UK Hardcore is here too.
So yeah same as above.
UK Hardcore is definately an English thing though, Hardcore from different countries has always been different till everyone started copying each other in recent years. Japanese Hardcore is distinctly different from English Hardcore for example, Happy stuff from Europe was completely different altogether. The small amount of Hardcore from the US that did turn up was clearly different too. The only time you've not been able to tell the difference is in recent years where everyone just copies the Raverbaby sound to some degree.
As for upfront Hardcore, that just meant recent Hardcore lol but alot of people seemed to change the meaning for some strange reason.

Same here. Until I just decided to call it all happy hardcore. But then where does that leave Freeform? lol

If i'm talking to someone who dosn't listen to Hardcore then if i say Hardcore they won't really know what i mean, and if i talk to someone who does listen to it then they will know what i mean anyway so it dosn't really matter. The only time i use different terms is if im reffering to specific typed like as you said, Freeform.

WOW This is just about as offtopic as a BR thread. Thanks Dan.
Anyway, good to hear people's thoughts on the ORIGINAL topic. Jester's input was definitely taken to heart.

I have to admit, storm is smashin it at the moment. Went off him after the initial first few raves but he has upped his game a lot and fair play to him. Whizzkid is boring me now though.. Wotsee is definitly number 1, he is lyricly the bolox and never ****s up, always in time. As for new breed, there are some proper shit mc's but also some reallly good ones. Look out for Mitch, Smilez and Pixie, at least one of them WILL be no1 mc in the next 5 years
