got to disagree with that! 1993 is the year nobody mentions! (my favourite) 1994 is when the UK and Holland combined to make mega hardcore!
1994 was the year that the Dutch picked up on Happy Hardcore. Babyboom had it's first release that year (Brother's in Crime- Hallucination) with 4 tracks on it. Babyboom seemed to base itself on The Scottish Bouncy Techno style, calling it 'Funcore' Paul Elstak started making happier tunes, based on the Scottish sounds which had become popular that year (Bass Reaction Technophobia, originally off Shoop! in 1993 was big in The Netherlands) One of the tunes in that list, Forze DJ Team- Now hear this has samples from English tunes but with a harder Dutch edge. Charley Lownoise Wonderfull Days was a big hit that year, being one of the first Dutch Happy Hardofre tunes. That year also saw German acts like Scooter breaking through.
Scott Brown had his Evolution Records that year while then along came Twisted Vinyl taking on the harder sounds. It seems that all the good stuff about 95/96 started in 1994. In some ways some of this did begin in 1993 but only started to take on in 1994 which would be big until 1997. My next mix is full of tunes from 1994-1997. The biggest years in Hardcore imo.
