I have to say I usually prefer the classical scores, like in the original Battlefield (there's a wicked D&B remix of that floating around!) but when it comes to oldskool video game music here's an album you should check out if interested: Mind.In.A.Box - R.E.T.R.O

Apart from a few interesting original ideas related to oldskool gaming, the rest is all old games music

summoned beast battle from Final Fantasy X


All 3 versions of the battle with Blizzeta from Zelda Twilight Princess


Music for both versions of Stallord from Zelda Twilight Princess. If you've ever played Ocarina of Time, you'll recognize the music from the 2nd stage from the battle with King Dodongo and Volvagia.

I'm a big Rareware fan and some of my most favorite VGM comes from their games. David Wise is my favorite VGM composer.

One of my all time favorite games is Final Fantasy VII so this is probably one of my favorite pieces out of a game. Also there is a tune on kniteforce that sampled this piece which is awesome!
