Well, I spent one week in Scotland (Fort William, Acharacle, Skye, Mull, Glasgow, Edinburgh) then down south to Manchester, then Worcestershire (Redditch) to visit the family, then London.
I then spent 6 weeks in De Haan (near Bruges, Belgian coast) then I came back to Brussels to spend a few days hearing about how one of my friends was going completely bonkers and how two others wouldn't be able to see me this coming year.
So yeah, good till I got back from them! =]

this winter was piss weak. was barely even cold. dont think there was a daily maximum below ten and it started warming up really early as well. New South Wales recorded its highest August temerature a few weeks back, it reached 36 degrees, would have probably reached thirties in sydney, was well up to mid twenties by 9-10 oclock but then cool change came through. pisser
the two winters before have been freezing (for us), plenty of mornings around 0, especially in 07. had freak weather all that winter, particularly from start june right through to end of july. Was one of the best surfing seasons east coast has ever had, especially after a dull may that is normally alive and kicking hard. as far as im aware its never snowed in sydney though :(
Weather in Australia is funny last summer we had a freak mid 40's (up to 50's in some places) heatwave that resulted in most of victoria being without power.

believe me, mid 40's, even in summer when your acclimatised to hot weather, is ****ing unbearable. 56 is just downright dangerous. very very easy to die in that sort of heat. but yeh 40 will only occur couple of times in a summer. more than half a dozen is unusual. occasionally it will never even reach 40 in a summer. usual summer temp is high 20's to 30 odd.
actually, on the day where it hit 56 in western New South Wales, down in Victoria was Australia's worst ever bushfire disaster. essentially just a raging firestorm moving at well over 100km/h. the fire went up a whole mountain in about 5 min, ripped through towns and left nothing. like absolutely nothing, a house would be left with its foundation. people would do the lie in pool trick and die because the water started boiling. people driving cars out couldnt go fast enough and the car would simultaneously combust because of the heat. many many people died. not good.
