Not talking about producers, but how and when Happy Hardcore made it's way and accepted in the American scene in the 90s. Where did it officially hit 1st? How did the ravers respond? Who were some of the big names pushing it? Why was this the only genre of EDM that created a massive following of adults who dress to resemble children here in the States? What was the view on each coast? How did it dissapear so suddenly from the scene here in the States that we have to throw parties that only host Happy Hardcore to get the sound out to the raving public?

Back in the 90s, pretty much raves were known every where, it just depended on if you knew where to look. You have to remember, we didnt have the RAVE ACT here until 2002 I believe, so "illegal" venues were everywhere and word by mouth and street flyers were the biggest indication something was going on.

The ones I know of where Omar Santana, Lenny Dee, DJ Delirium, Rob Gee and DJ Spree.
Most of them did Gabber bust some did more happeir stuff off Dutch and UK labels. DJ Spree used to play alot of English stuff and had mixes up for download with the earliest such mixes being from 1998. The MC was ADB who was from the UK.
Some say Lenny Dee was the founder of Hardcore and his label had some of the first Hardcore Techno tunes as early as 1989. Most Gabber artists where popular in The Netherlands and artists such as Omar Santana had tunes off Scott Brown's Twisted Vinyl label. Lenny Dee was popular across the world and I have heard live sets of his with a large number of Dutch Gabber tunes in.

lenny dee was in t.o. on saterday i think...i missed him cuz i was performin the night before but ive also seen him before :P
anyway so far as i could ever tell or find out, it pretty much picked u in North America a couple years after it started in the UK. and as far i can ever tell or find out, it did fairly well over here up until the various rave acts from around 99-2002. a lot of scenes were delt the killing blow then, though a few managed to build back up again e.g. toronto with hulla. I think though just because of the negative press that raves got fro soo long (like i remember a full an episode of Oprah on E and raves that show it in a less than favorable light) that the attendance was not there and the talent wasnt supported that raves specifically HHC raves, died out, or almost. enough people seem to have stuck with it enough so that it survived and we are now in another attempt at re-building its popularity.
i personally quite enjoy a lot of hardcore parties lately, we seem to have a chance at really makin them bigger again in the near future
this is a good question though and i really dont know for sure so if anyone does id be very interested in finding out. i didnt start partying until 04 so i deffinetly wasnt around for the begining

Yeh id say Lenny Dee is the most popular Hardcore dj/producer to come out of america
infact he was probably the 1st Hardcore dj to be well known internationaly
at that time (early 90`s) that was pretty much unheard of
maybe some of you from america can answer this
i actually always wondered if his popularity was known in the states
as much as it was a everywhere else ?

mainly he was only known in larger cities. delta 9 was around early on too but he didn't play much of anything happy
noahphex/muppet****er was another one of the early happy hardcore djs, he is/was from texas. spree didn't have his first tape out until 98 (superior b-sides).

i know that for canada, hullabaloo was one of the pioneering parties pushing the sound. anabolic frolic (hate to say it) is responsible for quite a bit, i'd think. he's not from the usa, but still.
