Except, obviously, it's for a specific age and under. You live in a cell with a sealed door when you go to bed, and you have lunch and a rec area (KIND OF), and a Gym for working out, etc.
It's basically just a place to lock the kids up for a short duration, and to 'teach them a lesson'. Juvie usually doesn't help a kid, but a good number of times it does.

we have them all over england also (england is riddled with "under-privelidged" kids) i was a little surprised to hear that Craigavon hadnt heard of them as most people know they exist, along with youth centers which are somewhat along the same lines that the salvation army run, but obviously thats not like prision, it just gives kids who would otherwise have nothing to do but look like chavs on street corners somewhere to go and "belong" as such

ogh its a prison....well in america there are two kinds of facilities theres the JF then theres youth authority its for kids who are doing a year and a half or more just like theres county jail and prison so let me get this right u guys only have prison?

hmmmm we have both, there are the youth detention centers, and then there are prisions
the second half of that list include prisions that have youth detention centers attached to them or in them

youth offenders usually have a ball in the institutions over here but for some its to much and they end up taking their own lives.
