MY ARSE!!!!!!

Are you on crack?
'i can't defend' johnson and 'haphazard attack attack' cole
nowhere near the best fullbacks!

Defensively, Johnson is nowhere near world class. In fact, he isn't even Liverpool's best full back! as soon as he comes up against a proper winger we're screwed! Cole is much better defensively but still tends to go missing at times, particularly when he imagines seeing his name on the back pages of the papers and goes belting forward.
Playing ordinary sides from europe at Wembley and playing the very best the world has to offer in South Africa at the world cup are 2 very different things.

I actually rate Glen Johnson pretty highly. Been quite impressed with his performances for Liverpool. Ashley Cole is a man I love to see fail - an odious, greedy, despicable human being that man.
Capello seems to have burst the egos that plagued the England squad and has them playing for the team, rather than themselves. He's an excellent manager, the kind of man who delivers things. His record in qualifying so far is testimony to this, and never did I think Croatia would get pumped 5-1! I thought England would win, but not by that scoreline.
And yes, I know Scotland are shite - I've had the misfortune to attend all of the ties at Hampden. We played well against the Dutch, but were let down badly by poor finishing. No-one in particular, Kenny Miller.
I can't be bothered detailing exactly why we didn't get ourselves into the play-offs. The bottom line is our players are technically a bit rubbish. We generally beat teams like Lithuania, Macedonia etc. However, these teams are actually better technically than we are. We seem to simply over-power them to win, they'll be the ones with the better passing and such.
Several players of our players are pretty average too. Craig Gordon, Darren Fletcher, Alan Hutton and James McFadden carry the team. Only one of these is really highly rated. Gordon usually plays, but McFadden and Hutton are in and out. Scott Brown (no, not the pony-tailed one :p) badly needs to move away from the SPL and develop as a player too. The potential is there, but he's hampered by the limitations of the SPL.
If Scotland had even one player with the class of Gerrard, I'd be delighted. Sadly, we don't.
Edited to add: There is absolutely no shame in Johnson being an inferior full-back to Fabio Aurelio - Aurelio is an excellent player.

"We played well against the Dutch, but were let down badly by poor finishing. No-one in particular, Kenny Miller."(quote)<= how can you blame it on Miller he might have missed a goal but he didnt miss as much as this fud (Chris Iwelumo). Get rid off George Burley, bring back kris boyd. I would like to see the full team scraped and young players brought in, just to see england scared to play scotland again, just like last year!

Iwelumo missed one sitter, Miller missed two pretty easy chances against Holland. Additionally, he should have given us the lead against Norway in Oslo and missed. Similar case to Holland - a simple lift the ball off the ground slightly, and he duffs it along the ground. 98% of the goal was free! He also missed a sitter against Macedonia in the first qualifier, IIRC. 10 competitive internationals since he last scored, unacceptable.
And what 'youngsters' do you propose we bring in, exactly? If we had any good enough, they'd be in the squad. What a ridiculous suggestion. Minus Kris Boyd, there aren't any available players who'd make a difference to the team. In saying that, it's about time Kevin Thomson got called up, he'd be a decent option to have.

There'll no doubt be a DS remix of England's World Cup anthem on CLXH 7...
At least we'd have had Scott Brown to remix ours, if we'd qualified
