Seriously, can anyone tell me what the difference between this and trance is apart from the BPM? I was listening to tracks almost the same as this at gatecrasher and Slinky in the late 90's early 00's.
I'm not saying it's not a good track, cos it is, I really like it. But really we need a new genre of music cos this is just speeded up trance, not hardcore

It was kind of a rhetorical question. It isn't literally just a trance track sped up, but it definately does sound just like the trance i used to/still listen to, albeit it at 175-180bpm rather than 135-140bpm ish

To be honest I like the trance feel to it, although saying the only difference between them is the tempo is going a bit far. There's definitely an intrinsic hardcore sound to it.
Now, if you're curious about "sped up trance"...
(not saying that in a bad way obviously - as soon as Dance Don't Slip comes out on NG, I'm grabbing it - it kicks the originals bum!)

Yeah, maybe the kick is different, but I would still say it's definately more trance than hardcore. There's more trance elements than hardcore imo. Don't forget, I've been there from the start though so my view is probably slanted different to yours. What you grew up knowing is hardcore is probably different to what I grew up knowing is hardcore.
If we compare this track to the early hardcore, or even the happy hardcore of the mid 90's there is less similarity with them than it has with trance imo. But if you got into hardcore post 2000's then the hardcore had already started to have a more trancey feel anyway.

Cube::Hard - Music of the Primes, well its old, but i just found it and i think it rawks
Happy C - Playing Live
Gammer & Marc Smith - Building Shaker
Bulby G - Liquid Skies
DJ Blue - To the World
Right now I'm into saw melodies, so anything with that is nice.
The part at that starts at 1:00 is awesome. Dan Winter even has some nice hard beats.
Gotta say I love build ups.
