For the UK people:
How does it feel as a 70% shareholder of Royal Bank of Scotland to pay 4 billion pounds in bonuses to the people that caused this economic mess in the first place?

To make money. RBS didnt make money, taxpayers paid so that it could stay up, now they use the money to pay for the execs bonuses, evethough they screwed up. When the bank does well their all for capitalism, when they do badly their all for socialism. So the taxpayer gets buttraped everytime, I'm suprised this doesnt make you angry?

Don't get me started on this subject. There are far too many people who are overpaid in our country, starting with Footballers. And yes I'm a huge football fan but it still riles me how much they earn. Nobody can ever convince me that they deserve this kind of money, or anything close to it :-/

RBS was a joke from the start.. the owners were criminals. they were soaking up money and spending it until eventually flopped, and the owners could walk away with cash in their pockets...

I thought I wouldn't be able to understand what you guys would talk about in this thread, hence I do not live over there.
Surprisingly, I guess I should say unsurprisingly, it's about corrupt bankers going in for the money, not caring what happens to the bank. Knowing the tax payers will catch them, and if that fails, they still have their money!
However pessimistic Wilky may be, I agree with him. People are corrupt, and go mad with power, in my many things tied and not tied to a countries infrastructure. However, I agree with Whispering. People either need to put their foot down at one point or another; otherwise shit breaks loose.
And, seemingly (don't know the exact numbers, etc. Don't live there, blah blah these aren't facts /coversownass) very few people...I wouldn't say don't care, they do. That's their money going into taxes, but...hmm..very few people say anything about it outside the comfort of their own friends/family.
So, it's just a bad structure in the first place. People bitch, and complain, but they don't actually DO anything about it. The few that do aren't enough, and it just crumples within itself. Letting these bad businessman, who I like to call con masters, make their way up, then watch it tumble down as they walk away with millions in their pocket.
Good 'ol fun.
