So in June I wrote a post about the first 9/10 months of NSR and what I had discovered/learned etc. I thought I would write another one as reflection and also what we plan for 2010 as a label.

The last time I wrote something like this we were making no profit and had no tracks on compilations (apart from COH). To date this is still true, we are making a loss and from what I believe, only just missed out on getting 1 track onto HU4. We have however got a fantastic remix from Auscore coming next year, a remix from a big name in the pipeline and another one to follow. Musically things are definitely looking up as we signed tracks like 'Final Flight' and 'Dance With Me'.

Sales have massively improved since June. We now have 1 track that has sold over 50 mp3 units and another which has sold over 40 units (for people who know a little about mp3 sales they will understand that this is a great achievement for a small/new label). MP3 sales across the board have picked up nicely, which I have put down to an increase in support for NSR and also better music coming out on NSR. The two hand in hand should mean that our main goal of getting music on the CD compilations in hardcore can become a reality in 2010.

In the last few months I have also learnt a lot more about the business side of running a label which in the future should more than help us because as with anything, if something makes a loss for too long then it cannot carry on, especially as this label is funded by myself.
It seems that money can be a touchy subject in hardcore and the very mention of it can cause people to be referred to as money grabbers. For us money definitely does not come first, and for anyone who has bought an NSR mp3 or CD, you should know that that money goes straight back into the label wether it goes into future CD projects, future vinyl releases (fingers crossed) and future CD releases. Im not bothered about NSR making a profit, I just want it to be able to support itself. The release of our first CD (Never Stop Raving: Hardcore Explosion) was funded by myself and Im hoping that the CD sells well enough so that the label pays for volume 2 itself, rather than it coming out of my student loan or my wages :)

So....is the CD selling well enough for NSR to be able to release a volume 2 in February 2010 as planned?

At the moment....No. But the CD has only been on sale for 1 month and is still selling at the same speed as it has for the last month.....slowly....but selling :)
However, I think the CD will eventually recover costs (at the moment its making a loss) and allow us to manufacture volume 2 which I am dieing to do because I feel that I have learnt so much by doing volume 1 and that I can do volume 2 much better and make it more appealing. So what are our plans for Volume 2 and 2010????

NSR: Hardcore Explosion 2 should, as I said be out in February (provided the funds are there) and at the moment I am hoping that it will be 2 discs....1 mixed and 1 unmixed (similar to the CLSM – Bathford Welcomes Careful Drivers, which was £12 if I remember rightly, ours will be cheaper, regardless of what names are on it).
This will mean that we are on the lookout for a DJ to mix the mixed disc....you will notice us tuning into various hardcore radio stations in the coming months on the lookout ;) and of course we will need submissions which will be asked for closer the time. Tracks....like with other compilations, do not have to be NSR tracks (2 tracks on volume 1 are licensed from other labels). They can be label submissions or artist submissions, just like with HU :) We may even request submissions from some artists personally! The CD will also be offered with free p&p again from the NSR site, we have seen this as a great thing and has encouraged people from Norway, Finland, Ireland, Germany, USA and Australlia to buy from the NSR site which means our music truly is going out globally!
We also have around 15 unreleased tracks, that will be coming out in 2010, and we are hoping that along with our ever improving music and a couple high profile remixes, we can get a track or two onto a compilation.

So what can you do to support us??? Check out our CD, its available from the link at the bottom aswell as IMO, Hardbeatstore and happyhardcore.com shop. There are clips on all 4 stores too. So have a look and have a listen, and if it isnt your thing, then recommend it to someone who may be interested....word of mouth is more powerful than you think! Also check out our mp3s....IMO, Trackitdown, Juno and Beatsdigital all stock them.

If you dont like our music, and dont want to buy any....then thats fair enough, but thanks for checking them out anyway and feel free to leave feedback. If we didnt receive feedback then we wouldnt even be on square one yet.

Thanks for all the support over the last 14 months, I work tirelessly for NSR and support and feedback is what keeps it alive and keep a look out for news of volume 2 as it will be superb with 2 discs and we are hoping for a lot of submissions!

Never Stop Raving!!!

I hope to receive alot of submissions for volume 2 from this website, as I know for a fact that Ken Masters received boat loads of submissions for his free CD project and I know alot of you submitted to COH.

This is no different guys....I will announce when submissions are open......but its in the very near future ;)

Safe mate, hope the label keeps moving forward as it has been. 8) I played Final Flight at a party Saturday and it went down a treat BTW!

Sure I'll have something to submit for volune 2 when the time comes around! :D

I hope we do get to see a volume 2 mate. It's sad to hear someone who cares as much as yourself not reaping the rewards you really deserve, whether that be profit or simply getting your label's music heard. I look forward to February with fingers crossed. Good luck with everything dude i hope things keep going from strength yo strength :)

Cheers for the support and kind words guys....

Final Flight is a huge track for us and as well as being played by DJ Cotts and Darren Hotchkiss, it has also been given a thumbs up from Entity and NuFoundation!

As for the CD being in February, its dependant on two things:
1. We have the money to manufacture a 2 CD project (obviously the cost will be higher)
2. That we have enough top quality submissions.

Without submissions the CD will not go ahead. There will be no set deadline for submissions.....but they open soon and will be open for at least a month....but after that, submissions will close once we have enough top quality submissions to make a CD (afterall, we are looking for around 30 top notch tracks).

So I guess its upto you guys when the CD comes out ;) Make great music and get it to us within the 1st month of submissions and it should be February.....otherwise we could still be searching for tracks in February :(

We dont plan on rushing into volume 2....we want it to be a really great CD, a CD that people think...'Oh thats out today, I want it now!' kind of thing :)

We shall see

How you going to fit 30 tracks on!? I thought it was an un-mixed disk and then a mixed disk of all these tracks?

Hell yeah, give vol.2!

I'll even submit some tracks once I have a new computer I can work on, on this tiny laptop I can't even make a techno drum loop(4-5 drum samples:P) without clicks and cuts on playback, from lack of CPU ;P

Of course, I'm not very good so the tracks might not end up on the CD at all, but I will submit for great justice!

I cant add much really... I hope the label starts to move at a quicker pace...

The CD arrived today, and I'm very happy with it.

My review has been posted.

I await the Volume 2 announcement!

30 tracks is a guesstimate ;)

18 track mix for CD1
12 track unmixed for CD2

Im hoping it will be 30 different tracks rather than have the same tracks accross both discs....unless something is so great that it has to be on both.

That is why when submissions are open, we will ask people to state if they want to submit a track for the mixed CD, the unmixed CD, or any.

Cheers for the interest guys....everyone should submit a track....We will listen to them all, and depending on how many we receive we will try to feedback on every submission (obviously not feasible if we receive 1000 tracks)
