What does everyone think of this 'Old skool' mix. It was Hixxy's Bonkers 13 mix from 2004 and one of 3 Bonkers (after 2002) to have an 'Old Skool' theam. All the tunes are between the years 1994-2000.

Alot of people don't class as 94-00 as 'Old Skool' and the 90s tunes are mostly Scottish tunes which wern't as common in south England during 1994. There are 6 Scottish tunes.

Another thing I have noticed is a few errors: The first tune is credited to Scott Brown - E creation (94) but is by Q-tex and Brisk & Trixxy - Eyeopener is listed as 'Brisk - Airhead'

There are many interesting things about Bonkers. I wonder why Hixxy chose to do an Old Skool mix? Too many Raverbaby tunes on Bonkers 12 I think (Hixxy & Styles and Breeze mixes) Also back in 2004 tunes from 2000 wouldn't have been classed as Old Skool.

I guess he wanted to show how the scene had changed in ten years, until the new millenium?

Im going to put all of Bonkers except Dougal's mix on my I-pod. I lost Dougal's mix which is a shame as I liked Re-con - Righ here & Euphoria - Silver Dawn.

personally i didnt like it - there are plenty of other better old skool tracks than the ones he chose to put on there, i think anybody who was listening to that and was their first introduction to old skool hardcore would have been put off..

tons of hardcore cds out there from the past 6/7 years have a cd called "old skool classics" or "old skool mix"

getting a little tired of this "old skool" crap now - like its a defined genre - which is a kinda retarded as when you heartell of "old skool hip hop" "old skool drum n bass"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=old%20school

old school 659 up, 30 down
Anything that is from an earlier era and looked upon with high regard or respect. Can be used to refer to music, clothing, language, or anything really. #

now, old skool is not exclusive, its not set, its forever changing - get over it already. :)

I wouldn't class it as a mix it was that badly done.

I liked it, I loved the stomping kick of E-creation 94. I had heard some of those tunes before such DJ Demo - Got a feeling. I also liked The Timespan - Shout Now.

I always had an eerie feeling about that mix, especially at the when Turn Up the Music just starts to fade out all of a sudden. The way it simply sank into darkness as if it were the end of a memory, the end of a journey, the end of an era. I have no idea if it meant anything, but it did feel weird.

I enjoyed it because it had many tracks I hadn't heard before. The one thing I didn't like was the time length of the tracks, especially that "Take Me Up" track, which was just the vocal laid out over "Samplemania". I think Hixxy should have just re-created his Bonkers 1 mix using the 3 decks and a 187 bpm tempo!

I liked it, mainly because most of those tunes in that mix I have on tapes and I'm afraid to use my tape deck in my car as it ate one =p

overall the mixing is alright, nothing special but it's better than an anabolic frolic cd =P
