you can't put a date stamp on it
if someone were to produce an old skool track today, would it not be classed as old skool because it was made in 2009.....
old skool is a style, not a time period

old skool is completly relative.
1. old school
Anything that is from an earlier era and looked upon with high regard or respect. Can be used to refer to music, clothing, language, or anything really.
2. old school
Anything that refers to a previous generation of a subject/idea/object/etc. Typically, they are highly regarded and sometimes the very thing that started it all.
3. old school
back in the day

If Old Skool is pre 93 then what would 94-99 be? Middle skool?

There was Hardcore before 1993. The term middle skool was used in Hip Hop in the late 80s I think, refering to early 80s Hip Hop that ws neither Old skool or New skool.
I hate the tags people put on music. I listen to 90s Hardcore all the time and think it is modern as I never listened to it in the 90s. To me the stuff I listened to in the early 2000s is what I would class is old skool.

Oldskool is relative, like already said. Oldskool for me is stuff between 1988-1993, but for those that got into Hardcore in the 2000's, 1995 might be considered oldskool, this makes me laugh though ;-)
I don't necessarily agree that stuff after 1993 is simply hardcore though, cos it was always classed as Happy Hardcore at the time up until 1998 ish.

If a track was started in 1993 but finished in 1994 or 95 or even, as we did recently, 2009
then it's.... what?

To give you a laugh. Everything sounding oldish with breaks is old skool to me. Think that is the whole 90s.
Btw, it's funny how people have a big fight about what is good and what isn't. Everyone have different tastes.
