Have a feeling they sent me an e-mail saying VIP tickets sold out. Why bother anyway TBH, just get a normal ticket.

You would certainly still get searched if they feel the need. You don't always get searched in the normal cue. Huge police presence with dogs at the NEC so if not being searched is a bonus to you be careful. ;)
You may get in quicker depending what time you get there. Sometimes a special bar but not sure at this event? Rip off IMO and causes a segregation that shouldn't exist in raves.

I went there last year and I'm going again this year, there was practically no police presence at all, only a private security firm. In the VIP queue they did ask you to open any bags you were carrying to look inside but no physical searches (that we see).
For VIP you get a free lanyard with the program for each of the arenas on entry, the queue is much shorter so you get in faster, although if you're early enough you won't be waiting much more than 20 mins to get in. You also get access to the VIP bar/lounge area - which last year was a silent disco as well.
The VIP tickets are only available direct from Slammin Vinyl and there are still some left, they are £65 a pop.

As for the drugs, I would say the majority of people there last year had taken something. There were also lots of dealers around, although I wouldn't really advise buying drugs off some random at a rave, there is likely to be loads of people selling fake shit to make a quick few quid. Always know your source/drugs.

I've been to all of them and there has been bare police each and every time. This is outside and in the entrance rooms, not inside the party. Seen plenty dogs and lots of people getting pulled up/taken away. Last year there was loads of drugs and empty bags on the floor in the queue where people had obviously bottled walking past the dogs with them and taken/chucked them.
They WILL search you in the VIP if they feel the need. There us no question about that. There was a dog unit on the VIP queue when we arrived last year too.

The dog's aren't anything to worry about really because at the end of the day if everyone who had drugs was getting caught then no one would be entering the venue. They had them when i went to Uproar at the Nottingham Arena and i think for the most part it is a scare tactic. Sure they can sniff out drugs but they need to be commanded to first as far as i'm aware. No one i know of had trouble getting in either and most of them would have had drugs on them.
