I feel that Hardcore was going ok until about 2005 when all of a sudden all everyone wanted to do was make watered down Clubland style Hardcore instead of the more innovative style that had been popular before. Take a listen to Bonkers 8-15, they had some good tunes on them, especially Sharkey's mixes & I feel that if Clubland Extream Hardcore never toke over then I belive the 2000s would have seen so much batter and harder tunes! Its like the saying goes, it's not that Hardcore has evoloved, it was what it evoloved into, not everyone agress with the Clubland/ Raverbaby crud & alot of good tunes where underplayed & a lot of good artists where ignored for the 'top guns' who just wanted to make money.

Yeah absolutely, whether you're a fan of the Clubland X-treme Hardcore series or not, if it hadn't started, I don't think Hardcore would have went the way it has. I think it would have stayed harder and not have gone as commercialised as it has. I'm not saying I don't like the series - it's been quite good. I've a few of the albums which are generally good but would be a much bigger fan of the Bonkers albums from 8 - 17.

In saying that, there is still some great hardcore tunes around but aren't as easy to find.

You should know that most of the UK Hardcore stuff I listen to has a half-distorted kickdrum :P

Check out ReBuild Music or FINRG, or Next Gen/Blatant Beats.

I did check out ReBuild and FINRG! I know what kind of stuff it is. And I probably know every single tune and it's cart # on Next Gen an Blatant Beats. That's actually my favourite kinds of tracks. NG028, NG067, NG036, NG047, BB041, BB031, BB036, BB040.. don't like much of the new stuff tho, except maybe NG087 and 2-3 others..

Unfortunately, Sam (Vagabond) no longer finds inspiration in dance music and instead, is concentrating on his 'Cosmic Picnic' World Music project involving real instruments from around the globe. Sam is a free spirit and a hippy at heart and this is what he wants to do. I've heard a couple of the tracks myself and the quality is exceptional but it is a million miles away from what you guys would associate him with on this forum. If you're a fan of his musical skill I would recommend having a listen when it gets released.

Sam did a live Hardcore set recently and sent me an email afterwards saying how we enjoyed playing all his (and our) productions so who knows, maybe he'll produce some more Hardcore. I can confirm that we will be working on a Brisk & Vagabond Gabber track in May but after that, who knows.

Hope that clears things up!

This was really surprising and disappointing to hear about Vagabond not going to be producing hardcore any more. Look forward to the Brisk & Vagabond tune and fingers crossed Vagabond will produce 1 or 2 more hardcore tunes before May!

As for the 'Cosmic Picnic' Project - this sounds interesting actually.

Was thinking hearing some of his tunes in an alternate style would be cool. Imagine hearing Ready for Chaos or Crush The Night in a completely different style eg. using real instruments??

Yeah, innit?

Would love to hear him make something in the liking of Huggermugger or Punchdrunk. Two of my favorite tunes from him.

Of course these guys are paid by the biggest dance music company to remix the biggest hits, and it's all just a big money making thing, BUT it's not 100% of what they do! I still love their original material. Here are some of those original tracks that came out in the last 6 months or so.

Re-Con & Demand - Like A Rainbow
Re-Con & Unknown - Surrender
Re-Con & Marc Smith - Stomp
Re-Con - Fuel To Fire
Re-Con - Without Doubt
Squad-E & Whizzkid - Bring It On
Squad-E & Enemy - Twista Anthem
Darren Styles & Manian - Outta My Head
Darren Styles & Chris Unknown feat. Molly - Shining Star
Darren Styles - Do You Feel The Same
Breeze vs. UFO & Lost Witness - Love To The Stars
Breeze vs. Unique - Reach Out

trance rip from about 2004 ish ... the trance tune is Tukan - Light a Rainbow.
