Does much time or effort get spent in that department?

Trying to think if I've noticed a big decrease in the number of vocal tracks. I guess there has been a gradual decline. There's certainly been a big rise in the number of tracks featuring male vocals.

I'm not sure if there has been much of a decrease in the number of vocal tracks. Certainly the majority of tunes that Darren Styles, Hixxy and the others that are on the Clubland X-treme Hardcore series feature some sort of vocal. I'm more concerned about the actual song lyrics - have been quite disappointed with some of the lyrics to various tunes. They sound like not as much effort has gone into them as they would have a few years ago.

Yeah I suppose there has been more male vocal tracks but wouldn't say a big rise. Since Darren Styles has done quite a few tunes containing his own vocals. Few Sy & Unknown tunes have had male vocals, Joey Riot and Darwin too. Don't mind male vocals at all - there's been some great tunes over recent years.

prefer non-vocal stuff but the occasional vocal is alright

have just listened to too many tunes that it has a great build up then gets ruined by a vocal that doesn't fit at all

Here a perfect example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htSLDJQxNpk

The vocals really ruined it, it would have been such a great song. That's why I prefer Storms version, but this one has a better kick imo.

Vocal based hardcore is the best IMO.

Likes of.

Stuck In A Moment - Ineffect and Gammer Feat Ali.
Darwin Feat Pearl Blue Don't Be Lonely
Angel Eyez Stay With Me Orbit1 Remix

Non vocal
Smack Darwin Remix.
Awakening by Weaver

I guess I'll leave it there.

Don't Be Lonely and Angel Eyez! You've named two unbelievably quality tracks there.

Does anyone know if Angel Eyez is ever gonna get a download release? I f**king love that track.

I don't think ravers will ever get sick of vocals. You should be asking are people getting sick of the same old trancey riffs in freeform???????????????????????
Is not vocals that people are sick of. It's people producing tracks that all sound like sped up trance and similar.

Personally, I enjoy all the different forms of Hardcore depending on what mood I'm in. I love the hard banging less vocal tracks when I'm in a partying mood and when I'm thinking about my life in general I like songs with female vocals, especially ones that I can relate to my (love) life. That said I still prefer the underground sound with vocals more than the commercial cheese, and with few exceptions only enjoy Hardcore with female vocals.

I think the different styles are essential and HappyHardcore wouldn't be the same without the variance, I love the diversity of the tracks and the way you can find something that appeals to almost everyone and every mood if you take the time to look. :)

Oh, and there is nothing better than the atmosphere created by thousands of ravers singing along to a wicked hardcore anthem together. The feeling and emotion that can create is like a drug!

no no no, no such thing as a track better without miss Vicky Fee's voice! She's a blessing to the genre! The old instrumental version does sound a bit dated when compared to the vocal update.

I do like her voice but I think this just doesn't fit to the track! I love "Dance Me" for example ;)

I love the vocal aspect, but I hate the direction the vocals are heading. Male vocals are a problem, because it's just hard to make them work with Hardcore; it just doesn't sound right unless you have a strong melody to back the track up, such as the old Froce & Styles' tracks. I also wish more lyrics were singing about objects connected with emotions, not just emotions, "Rainbow Islands" for example, and "Fly Me To The Moon" for another example. I feel the vocals (female) are a strong element in Hardcore music, and the only reason it's been connected with commercialism is because of the increase in remixes of trance tracks instead of originality.

i agree vocals do not hurt that track i can't imagine the track w/o vicky fee!

and it's not hard to make male vocals work in hardcore any particular track you speak of? and yes i know the DS tracks are mostly but he doesn't count we already know he's low vocal quality lol

This.

The only vocals I don't mind are distorted ones. Ones that get filtered and added to sound like the song, but this isn't really prevalent in HHC. So I'm pretty much out of luck on that department, it's always too high pitched, or just plain shit to begin with.

Get a lot of that now in HHC.
