That is also crazy, unless it's something that costs a lot and or needs planning. I can understand it Kathryn if it's something you need to do to be able to afford the things you want to buy.

been working retailers for many years and the worst thing about shopping that early is you can't return the items!
i've had many ppl try and return items that are more than 6 months old, only to tell them that the merchandise is too old to return. They get even more upset when I tell them the person only paid somewhere around 75% its worth.
most ppl who buy early buy b/c items are on clearance or super sale. nothin wrong with saving $$$, but if you're thinking of buying something like that make sure that it's a guaranteed keeper or rip off all tags so they can't identify a place you can return it! lol

What you should do is in december get all the presents give half to your family and freinds an the other half store away untill next december, that way you wont have to shop..

My mom often buys gifts throughout the year. Usually if something is on sale or something. But as latininxtc said, she only buys stuff beforehand that dont have the possible need to be returned.

Chriatmas is the last thing on my mind right now,but come october-november time i'd like to have everything got to avoid the last minute rush
