Out of curiosity, what was the highest charting hardcore songs in forever?
Probably one of the '91-'92 tracks like 'On A Ragga Tip', 'Sweet Harmony', 'Outer space', etc.
I'd say the old skool sounds have come back. Just look at the breakbeats, stabs and pianos cropping up in Fidget House, Dubstep and D&B tracks.
Great thread- and I had to read through to find the point I would make but will add some links too.
Its already happening regardless of the tories! However you may not be totally into what is out there, anyway here are some links.
I will challenge the person saying that normal hardcore is 'selling' and basicly tells you that you are in the past to find a regular hardcore track in the past year that has charted (woops) or has as many views on youtube as Wiley or Doctor P or any number of these old skool type things.
Wiley- Never be your woman- this version by Shy FX!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jiBFV4DSIc Doctor P- Sweet Shop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZkzcm7ubQg TFTSS and Chris Starkilla feat Taya- Walkign On Air (Biased here as its a Maximus Baxter Remix- no views but its like some form of mid 90s thing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA7zBLqslck Kelis Accapella (Maximus Baxter Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfD5oO7hhZQ Zinc Old Flame- you have to skip through Annie Macs show to find this clip at the moment but very oldscool prodigy esque thing- http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sdb0x#segments also straight after is a Skream tune, also very old skool. here it is... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pkZNT-2Geo and theres loads more of course http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bkmSmbmk2Q and you might like this thing which me and gavin did with Taz and Carni, but its just on one of my other videos.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzMYeooDEK0 Of course this all happened years ago with hardcore breaks and rave breaks but now its actually going pretty mainstream with Skream, Redlight (Clipz) and others.

im sure there are others
"hardcore" as in the massive general modern usage it would probably be technohead
Don't forget ratpack-searching for my rizla,it beat madonna to number 1 in the uk charts
I dont think Ratpack was at number1 in the uk- it surprised me to read that, so trying to find out, but it wasnt a number1 in the uk... Many quotes i have found say 'number 1 in the dance chart' and one quote leaves off 'dance', so that maybe where that came from??

I've actually heard that Doctor P tune somewhere before but i can't remember now, apart from that it's popular in general. I should really hate it lol yet i don't. I guess the nostalgia helps. Really like the timing of the Dubstep tune under the piano riff.
