Yeah I know, but that's what I want to avoid, I want to keep the cheese out. I need something that ain't cheese, but no Freeform (that has a too fast feeling) and no gabber (too agressive). Time to invent a new genre I guess?

Or you could just use the original Sub Focus track he ripped off.

This.
D&B in a Hardcore set? Great. Lift the quality of the music for a track or two. Hardcore in a D&B set? Just will not work.
If you do a Hardcore set and throw in the odd D&B tune you could potentially alienate a few people, but most Hardcore fans upon hearing a D&B tune, even Pendulum or something equally as mainstream, will think "oh wow this is well nasty, look at me skank". Hardcore in a D&B, your listeners will be D&B fans, who have a tendency to poke fun at and shun Hardcore. If you drop a Hardcore tune they're likely to leave the dancefloor and go to the bar till normal service is resumed

Panacea did it in one of his mixed CD for a Kniteforce party.
He even put a Scott Brown track. Ok.. maybe 3 hardcore tunes for a 40 tracks DNB mix, but still it was a really good, unique mix. I think I still have it somewhere...

Yeah that's the prob, most people who like DnB don't like Hardcore. But here in Vienna the DJs sometimes to throw a Hardcore track in their mix and people don't even notice.
Yeah, Panacea is probably one of the best Drum & Bass DJs/Producers out there, but nobody minds it when he drops a Hardcore track. Well actually quite a lot of the hard Drum & Bass DJs do that. And it truly seems to rock the crowd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqb-N9KhO4M
But I think a track with a cool bassline and not too much synths/melody will be accepted. Something like this, I love that bassline: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Dhs3K_pECY The only problem in that tune is the word 'Hardcore' lol
I think those mixes work really well. I'm all for DJs making an effort to pry open the stubbornly glued shut minds of many drum n bass fans by introducing them to some quality hardcore. If you think those people can't appreciate hardcore because it's a lesser quality music.... you're wrong! There's a lot of kick drum hardcore heads who hate drum n bass.
For me, there's a lot of excellent drum n bass that I really really like, but I don't hold it dear the same way as a great hardcore kick driven track because it's just not my groove. And it's not just the rhythm I can relate to better, but also the textures and atmospheres of hardcore that move me more. They're much closer to the sound of my soul than the textures and atmospheres of drum n bass.
And I think that's generally more of what it's about when people hate one of the genres or the other. So I think good tracks to ease the unconverted drum n bass fans into the hardcore sound should have more dnb-esque sounds, none of those euphoric pads.

Don't think so, most people are very superficial and would rate Hardcore just as shit because of the name, everything they want is to go out, get drunk and good music. The thing is, in a club, the music will sound different than at home, completely different actually, and they may like it. They just don't have to know it's Hardcore ;)
And yeah, I want to get rid of those euphoric pads. Basically what I'm looking for is some untz untz untz

Couple of tracks I can think of, newer would be Geos Crew - Look at all the Ravers which has got a long DnB break in it. For a bit older track I'd say UFO - Deep Inside (One of the remixes I think) would fit in but you would probably lose that urban DnB sound because it's got a bit of an uplifting anthem sound to it
2:18 is the main part that comes to mind. Tune is Geos Crew - Look at all the Ravers

AC Slater - Overdose Music. It depends on the mood of the mix though.

In my opinion good music is good music, I don't care what "genre" it is. Overall I think the whole metal scene is quite silly and full of retarded sounding songs, but I've also heard a few metal songs that sound pretty awesome in their own way and I can appreciate that as music. When is comes to rap/hip-hop I see it more as poetry with beats in the background to make it more listenable and I can appreciate (a very small amount) of it for that.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that if the music in your set truly is good then people should like it, anyone who instantly disregards the hardcore because it isn't "their genre" is daft and should just leave.
this is the only thing song wise that comes to my head:
