I love the World Cup. I just hate it when people who know nothing about football expect England to win the thing. It's ridiculous.

It's not that that bothers me though. The only thing that annoys me is when one of the Daily Star reading simpletons starts spouting about how they're not allowed to partake in such acts of patriotism at risk of upsetting and offending "the bloody muslims" cause "it said so in t'papuh".

Oldham, Greater Manchester (formally Lancashire) is famous for being Britain's binge drink capital. A real northern town. A former Lancashire mill town with victorian back to back houses and empty mills that where used for raves in the 90s. Anti social behavavior is a problem (due to binge drinking) and everyone votes Labour & hates Thatcher, the middle classes & southerners. Same as Bolton I guess.

I didn't know London was still part of the UK? In London all the kids think there local 'ghettos' of Brixton are The Bronx & only in the east end would you find guys in England shirts. These guys are the same as northerners only with the cockney rhyming slang & support their local football team like a religion & hate outsiders & 'those Millwall ****s' & when England play they all team up with all the other 'firms' (even 'those Millwall ****s') for a good punch up to show 'those Germans' who is boss.

Most of them have never been outside of London (except to Essex) and the only time they sea country side is to Southend-on-sea (but with Basildon between they feel at home before they get there) and they think Manchester or Liverpool are just parts of North London until they go there for the first time and find out there is a park bigger than Hyde Park between them.

Northerners think Londoners are cockey because they are from 'the big city' so the boys from Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle & Sunderland show them that London is full of posh gits, kids who think they are from New York or L.A. & arrogant cocneys. The Man U firm like to show 'those ****s from London' that it is the North of England that is rougher!

In the small towns I can imagine football teams don't dop so well so it is only during an England match would you see the lads out in town with their pints in plastic bottles 'aving a laugh coz the game is on'

Bournemouth & Poole don't have big teams (Poole don't even have a stadium!) but when England are playing you would think the pubs are like those in London or 'Up North'

Must one choose between the two?

lol. My thoughts exactly. You may be able to combine the two, you know. Some of the camera men are absolutely superb at picking out the stunners in the crowds. Watch out for this in the coverage throughout the next month - there will be plenty of close-ups of Brazilian, Slovakian, Portuguese, South African, American (and so on) beauties in the stands - but there will not be a single close-up of a hot English minx. Why? Because there never are any. Just tattoo sporting chubster-chavs from Rotherham.

Especially when they never win, LOL. Pretty unrealistic expectation.

Haha, awesome rant smoogie, loved it.

Matt: actually didnt realise what you meant. =P
I'm only vaguely aware that the world cup is on. Watching soccer is pish for me. Having said that it's one of my favourite team sports to watch after baseball and grass hockey.

Individual sports are win.

We are lucky. The only problem was when Leeds (a very laddish city) came in 1990 and turned us into WW3. Poole isn't a bad town but does have it's hardmen though so I will be avoiding Poole pubs for a while while the lads are out watching the game. I don't want a plastic pint glass thrown at me...

It's alright for you, your from Australia and you can enjoy drinking Fosters out of a real manly glass rather than a plastic one us Brits are forced to drink out of
