I can see this catching on. Its something new of somethings we've had for ages now...

Slipmats are a little too abrasive to rub a cd surface on repeatedly, means you can play the vinyl but you can't scratch it. This is a neat albeit arbitrary idea that probably won't catch on.

hah, its an interesting concept

i thought this thread was going to be about the Numark TTX2 i was all prepared to shout "old news!" lol

but yeah, interesting concept - more of a novelty than something that will catch on imo

It's a nice novelty but I don't see this being standard.Aren't Vinyls huge because they take up a lot of space to hold music? This thing looks like it can barely hold half a song let alone what's on the flip side.

Besides I like it when labels give a free digital download of the record instead. I wish more people would catch on to this trend.

that's great to have cd and vinyl because 99% of the music i buy is on vinyl, and sometimes, when i want to play an mp3 on the computer or iphone, car etc... i'm dissapointed to realize that was a vinyl
the only solution is to do a vinyl rip but quality is pretty bad, i don't like the sound of the mp3 after that

so in my opinion that a good idea, the only 2 problems i can find on it is:

- price, should be more expansive i think
- the size of the vinyl, i don't like to play little vinyls

specimen had a very good point about slipmats - it would be the CD side sitting on the slipmatt...not such a good thing

If you're vinyls rip with poor quality it's probably more your fault than the vinyl. Make sure you're ripping in 320kbps, 192 sounds fine for most people but to those with a trained ear you can hear the difference.

Also, I'm sure you're using different speakers in the car, iPhone, computer, etc. That definitely affects the quality of your music negatively.

Out of curiosity disregard for all of the above: what method are you using to rip your vinyls?

for the vinyl rip, i'm using garageband, with a macbook trough djm700 and technics mk2, and in 320, not 192

what i wanted to say when i said the quality is not the best was because the sound lost his dynamic, when i heard that, it doesn't seem to be like a vinyl sound. i know i should use a 1000 pre amp, to make the sound better, but that's too expansive for me !

also, i meant that you need a lot of time, i buy something like 7-8 vinyls/months, and if there's 2 tracks on each, i need 1h30 to put them onto the computer (okay, this is not so much) but also, i have to be all the time near the turntables, and this, it's not easy

i think that's badass!! too bad laser discs weren't still around, we could see a full "CD" and full record too.

it solves some of the DRM problems. you buy a record and you have a perfect quality mp3 right there with it.
